Love barbecue? You’ll have to be sure to check out the new Sweet Heat BBQ in Reston. They held their grand opening this past weekend and it was so successful, that they are planning to hire more employees.
The new barbecue restaurant takes the place of Mandoohouse and is located at 1810 Michael Faraday Dr. in Reston, across the street from the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Center.
The reviews are already starting to roll in on Yelp: “Amazing BBQ. Best, I’ve had since moving to the area. I’m a southerner, so I REALLY know my BBQ. I had the pulled pork with a side of mac and cheese and the red rice. The pork was moist with excellent smoked flavor. Thoroughly enjoyed the red rice and mac and cheese.”
Only open a few days, the eatery is still getting out the kinks. One reviewer noted that the tables could be wiped down better and the employees’ uniforms needed sprucing up. (The restaurant is looking to hire, so if you know anyone looking for a job, just call the restaurant, at 703-686-0060.)
On the menu? Pulled pork sliders, mac ‘n cheese, corn souffle, brisket, ribs, smoked chicken and much more. (Click on the menu link to see the entire menu.)
Chef Kermit Griffin has been featured on the Food Network and has been an executive chef for some prestigious restaurants. He has cooked for celebrities like Jay Z and Barbara Streisand but his ultimate dream was to own his own restaurant, according to the eatery’s Web site.
Griffin’s vision of his restaurant goes back to his roots, with an international influence from his business partner, who was born in Korea. So the concept of “Southern Comfort BBQ with an International Twist” became: Sweet Heat BBQ.
