FCPS Day Off for Teachers

I drove by my local high school for an event for my children this Monday morning at 8:30 and the parking lot was half empty. Another waste of taxpayer dollars on "teacher workdays"--they couldn't get the work done on the snowdays? pathetic

Maybe they were in meetings or trainings at other buildings.
Actually, if the parking lots were half full on a day students weren't there, I'd say that's a good number of cars.

Everyone is a critic.
Teachers donate many hours of their own time to educate your child without pay. I seriously doubt a crybaby like you would put in 5 minutes of free time without pay.

They supposedly quit offering publicly funded massages on teacher work days. Maybe that is why the parking lots are half empty.

If a teacher has to work a few extra hours, big deal. Most professional positions now require a lot of time above 40 hours. According to teachers, they are working day and night, 60 hours weeks. I just don't believe it. You are teaching the same topics, year in and year out. How much 'planning time' do you need to throw up the same powerpoints up on the screen year after year? Plus a lot of the testing is now computerized, which eliminates a lot of grading, depending upon the subject. And by May 15th, you are done for the year.
