Yes, I met him many years ago at a dance at PVI. I didn't go to the school, so that was the only encounter I had with him. He was 27 pretending to be 15, and he really looked the part. He wore over-size glasses, a bowl hair cut and he was probably all of 5'3", 120 pounds. I thought he was weird and creepy despite his supposed money and connections--yet some people were very impressed by him. I heard he even had a girlfriend there. He also told some of the theater kids that he would put in good words for them and pull strings when he got back to Hollywood. That was sad. He took advantage of a lot of people, and they were lucky no one really got hurt, that we know of.

Personally, I think the priest who was also the principal was in on the whole thing. That is just my opinion.

He went by Jonathan Taylor Spielberg, after the popular teen star of the time. Amazing that no one questioned THAT!

Parents of the girls he dated really freaked out when it was revealed that he had been in a porn movie before coming to VA.

I heard about this story quite some time ago. Supposedly he is Iranian, and his last name was Fakhran. It was also reported on the news that he starred in an amateur porn movie, dolled up as a transvestite.

He got two months probation and the sexual battery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges were dropped. Soon after, he flew to NY to give interviews to a magazine and talk with agents. He wanted to act in and direct films, make a music-video, and write his life story. But this is where the story dries up and disappears.

The latest information I found on Jonathan Spielberg was from a 2001 article that said he was facing deportation. I also found something that accuses him of writing and starring in an autobiographical movie about a transvestite. Who knows where he is now…?"

You are right, but to this day I have so many suspicions about Father Lyle. Mainly b/c at the time "Spielberg" was pretending to be 14 or 15, yet drove himself to school in that BMW every day. Father Lyle even gave him a special parking spot next to his in front of the school.

Either way he deserved to be removed at the end of that year--b/c he was so stupid he overlooked obvious holes in "Spielberg's" story or he knowingly let a pervert roam his school for whatever reasons.

When this dropped it was one of the biggest stories around. I graduated in '97 and remember talking to some fellow class mates who were below me. Everyone I talked to thought that he just paid Father Lyle off, which is no surprise to me. He was the epitome of sexual predator. He was always involved in the "boys" sports, giving all the jocks "extra attention". Maybe it wasnt money, but I am almost positive they were exchanging something.

What evidence can you present that John Lyle was a predator?

i went there when the story broke. basically this guy was a privileged 27 year old iranian. he had the great idea to use his doctor daddy's money to come over to america, buy a bmw with the license plate that said SPLBRG & pose as a 15 year old nephew of steven spielberg at a catholic high school. ya gotta give him credit for creativity...

but he was a very strange guy. he would never be in school regularly. he would come and go as he pleased. i believe the story is that they allowed him to come in and audit classes while he was in the area for a movie being filmed in DC (HA!). he was very "friendly" with the principal, father lyle. father lyle even let him park in his special parking spot. i guess no one failed to wonder why a 15 year old guy was driving a car BUT OH WELL.

eventually, the school contacted dreamworks for some reason (because his application he submitted to contained a letter on dreamworks letterhead). dreamworks, in turn, notified authorities about the situation.

when his apartment was raided, they found pornographic material in his place. it also was revealed he starred in a movie called the "story of v" where he was the big star...dressed as a woman.

the next year, father lyle was no longer principal. unfortunately he could no longer stand in the weight room all day to gawk at jocks...and no longer could he walk around school insulting girl's outfits.

so is the story of the fake spielberg!

Respected educator and priest? Come ON! No one could stand this guy from the get-go, and he would have never lasted even if it weren't for Fakhran! If there were some parents and students who respected him, it went right out the window when everyone found out what he allowed to happen. It is very hard to believe he was so ignorant, which is why many people think he is unclean in this situation. His previous actions do not at all help the case against him.

I do remember that. The pictures ended up on a website somewhere, right? Maybe an advertisement site for the clubs? I remember seeing them shortly after the whole thing broke.

Man I remember this thing very well because I was a sophmore at the time! He was dating Danielle Poland! Hahaha it was hiliarious she thought he loved her and he would take her out to the Ritz Carlton for lunch..it was so wierd. He would let the girls drive his car and give them cash for no reason. When was Father Lyle arrested for fraud?

Can you supply dates, court of jurisdiction, etc.?

Can you supply newspaper accounts of your allegations?

How was case resolved?

What's your interest, are you an alumnus of PVI who didn't get the memo?

I couldn't find the exact news article I originally read. In short he was arrested in Jacksonville Florida sometime in 2002. I had my facts pertaining to the fraud a little mixed up. Basically, he was activated from the chaplain reserve corps then quickly promoted to "student naval flight surgeon". In effect Fr Lyle was receiving compensation and benefits for job he was not qualified nor entitled to and went along with it. Some things can be chalked up as human error but not in this case.

hahaha I met both fakwad and danielle after this happened. Fakwad was a swindeling loaded metro sexual and she was a hollow headed blonde bombshell. She ended up with severe psycological problems afterwords covering her bedroom wall with notes and filling notebooks about the whole thing. I think that fakwad should of been deported back to Iran where he came from. He wrecked that poor girls family and severely messed up this girls head. He would offer ppl money for friendship and not in small quanities. He would offer up like 10 grand or so it was strange the way he did it. I was attending PVI when this all went down. It was pretty obvious when a guy who was younger than me had a daily 5 o'clock shadow when he was saying he was 15. The girl he was banging....picture a fat 9th grade version of Anna Nicole. She's some slut model now up on myspace.

Pretty funny how people I knew were pushing him around in the bathroom and he was like twice their age.

Father Lyle struck me as the drill sarg. type the kind you watched in Full Metal Jacket. The type of person that gets off on power trips. He would get in people's faces and humiliate them as a way of punishment. One time the guy actually screamed at me because one of the football players left an empty bottle at the lunch table. Rather than blame one of his precious players, he screamed at me despite the fact the I had a soda can in my hand as I was going to the trash. I was like, you think I drank a 20 oz. soda and a 24 oz. Gatorade during lunch? I don't think he was a sexual predator, but in the end, he got what was coming to him.

Brandon I think you still have some issues of your own. I was no fan of Fr. Lyle but let facts speak for themseld and let go of the past. The school has almost done a complete 180 since then. Though arguably, not for the better.

The Fairfax City man who was arrested after allegedly convincing high school administrators that he was the nephew of filmmaker Steven Spielberg said yesterday that he is "no older than 18" and that he committed no crime in occasionally attending Paul VI Catholic High School.

Jonathan Spielberg said he went to classes at the Fairfax school "once or twice a week," beginning last spring. When officials became concerned over his poor attendance, they tried to contact Steven Spielberg at his DreamWorks SKG studio in California and learned that he has no nephew living here.

In Fairfax court records, Jonathan Taylor Spielberg--his legal name after a 1997 name change--is listed as 27 years old. He was arrested Monday night in his family's apartment in Fairfax Square and charged with one count of forgery and two counts of uttering false documents, all felonies. He told police he was 20.

Police said that a charge of forging a public record (his petition to change his name to Spielberg last August) was added last night and that he was released on an unsecured $10,000 bond.

Earlier yesterday, Spielberg said in a brief interview at his residence that the forgery and uttering charges are false, and "I'm sure it's going to be dismissed."

Spielberg, who drives a BMW with the personalized license plate "SPLBERG," said he never told anyone he was related to Steven Spielberg. "They asked if I had connections," he said. "I usually didn't answer. Sometimes I said, 'Maybe.' "

But his fellow Paul VI students noticed some oddities. For one, Spielberg, supposedly a 15-year-old freshman, drove to school and was allowed to park in the spot usually reserved for the principal, sophomore Ryan Zivic and others said.

The students said Spielberg told them he came to school for only a few times a month because, according to Zivic, "he said his uncle was making a film."

Jonathan Spielberg was the talk of the small four-year school, partly because of his name and partly because he spent and lent money freely, students said. "He doesn't look 15," saod sophomore Jean Tarascio. "He looks 20."

Schoolmates said Spielberg sometimes alluded to Hollywood connections--for example, telling some girls that actor Ben Affleck would accompany him to a Paul VI football game and inviting one student to attend the Grammy Awards with him. Neither invitation panned out, students said. Tarascio added that none of her friends believed that Jonathan Spielberg was related to the Hollywood director.

Spielberg said he attended Paul VI sporadically, even wearing the school's uniform, with the full knowledge of officials there. "I just called them, talked with the principal and the assistant principal. They told me they could accept me."

Spielberg said that because he was auditing the classes for no credit, he did not have to pay tuition. One student in his English class said Spielberg did not have to do the homework expected of others, either.

Paul VI's principal, the Rev. John Lyle, and other school officials did not return calls yesterday. The Rev. Robert J. Rippy, a spokesman for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Arlington, said that he did not know how Spielberg gained entrance to the school or how long he was enrolled and that the diocese is conducting its own investigation.

"I just went there for the experience," Spielberg said. "Just for the fun, to get the experience I never had."

Spielberg, who lists his birthplace as Tehran in court records, would not say where he previously attended school, whether he works or whether his parents work.

According to police, Spielberg applied to Paul VI in September 1998 and later provided a transcript from a "Beverly Hills Private School for Actors" as well as letters from DreamWorks that police believe are fraudulent. "I have no idea about those," Spielberg said yesterday.

In August 1997, Spielberg changed his name from Anoushirvan D. Fakhran, saying Jonathan Taylor Spielberg was his great-grandfather's name. In court papers requesting the switch, he said, "This change of name is not sought for any fraudulent purpose," and gave his birthdate as Jan. 2, 1973, the same date listed on a speeding ticket he got in Fairfax last summer. Spielberg said yesterday that the 1973 date is wrong. School officials believe him to be a 16-year-old sophomore now, but Spielberg now says "I'm no older than 18."

This was all so entertaining when it happened. I was a Junior at PVI when it all went down, and the Administration hated every minute of it.

Students were told not to speak to news crews. Some were suspended for going on radio stations like DC101, because there's actually a line in the student handbook about bringing bad publicity to the school through your words or actions.

As to the girlfriend...she continued to see the guy after he was found out. I'd say that's almost a self-inflicted wound. I have to say though, she was a bit off her rocker before he got to the school. I remember her when she and I were in the band together, she chased after me for an entire football game, even though I made it clear that I was not interested in her.

Very odd situation.

ANoush Fakran or Damien (as he called himself) rented a room in my basement in the early to mid 90's. He claimed to be about 18, and was staying with an aunt until he found a room to rent. His mother (she didnt speak English) was with him, and had to go back to Iran after she got her son settled. He was taking TOFL courses at NOVA and GMU, and clearly was interested in anything related to movie stars. We finally kicked him out after he refused to find transportation to/from school, insisted on us taking him back and forth. Also, somedays Id come home from work, and he'd ordered so much crap from late night TV, the mail man coulndt fit out mail in our box. Shortly after he moved out he started "stalking" us, once spotted outside the Giant on 236 watching us shop. The he began writing letters begging pleading to come back. Offering triple the rent payments, getting his own car, own phone line, and empty promises on and on and on. He lasted a few months, and the day he left our home for the final time. he called Mayflower movers (with the BIG truck) to move his 2 suitcases. the guy tripped hard.

This would of never of happened in one of the many great schools in fc that many PVI Lisa could go to. But of course those are filled with drugs, sex, and gangs. Who would dare let their "gifted" children go to school with a bunch of hoodlums if you consider yourself a good parent you better put your kid in a private school those places really know how to educate and keep your children safe

He didn't pretend to be 15, he pretended to be 16 when he arrived. During that year he was dating Danielle Poland, who stayed with him for several years. Not only was "John" throwing money and supposed influence around, By most accounts, he was considered a very charismatic fellow.

Well, respect this: John W. Lyle is a homosexual living in Virginia Beach, VA. I was there for the final three years of Father Lyle's reign (including Speilberg) and I can tell you that he was a wannabe drill instructor. Shaved his head bald and acted like he was running a prison, unless you were an athlete. By athlete I mean football and basketball.

He got canned for gross incompetence/negligence regarding the Speilberg thing. The guy's story would have fallen apart if anybody bothered to look into things. My friends and I were 16-17 at the time and we suspected something wasn't right with him. Here are some facts regarding the whole situation.

Guy claims he's the 15 year old nephew of Speilberg - authenticity of claim not checked out before student enrolls

Guy claims to be 15 - has full facial stubble, looks like a developed adult and is driving a BMW

Guy rarely if ever shows up to school - once again nobody pays attention

He was having sex with an underage girl - the Diocese is now exposed to a lawsuit for allowing a pedophile in his late 20's to basically walk right into the school and screw a kid.

The negative attention drawn was legendary - news people were camped outside the school for a week

I wasn't disputing his gayness. Just the assertion that he's no longer a priest. I was in the first graduating class of PVI, and that dude was creepy and obviously a latent homo even back then.

I had to take his Morality class, and he liked to tell me and my girlfriend "sex before marriage is a sin. Do you know how to avoid having sex? Don't take your clothes off". So whenever I got my girlfriend alone, I always asked her if she knew how to avoid having sex, and she'd start taking off her clothes. Thanks Father Lyle!

Fr. Lyle was very good to students who otherwise would have been unable to attend Paul VI. He was not a pervert and rather a good man. I was not at PVI when Father Lyle was there but have siblings who were. Father Lyle was a teacher there when I was there. Lets stop with the blasphamy and false claims about another person for it is a mortal sin to lie about someone. Fr. Lyle had a military personality and so he was not as outgoing as the principal when I was there. Otherwise, Fr. Lyle was fine. I don't know the details of the Spielberg incident but I know the student was reported as soon as his real I.D. was discovered. PVI was 100% innocent in that.
So please follow scripture and do not spread lies about Fr. Lyle or anyone else. If you want to say that Fr. Lyle was cold then so be it, from what I hear he was pretty rigid and cold. But, claiming he aided the 27 year old student or that he was a pervert is direct blasphamy and a mortal sin. "Thy shall not bear false witness" is a commandment.

Father Heet was principal when I attended there. Father Lyle liked athletes, both male and female. Your statements are lies.
Father Lyle was a great weightlifting coach and morality teacher. The Spielberg incident was a shock to everyone. Father Lyle resigned to save embarrassment for the Order of St Francis de Sales.

You've got to be kidding me. Grad here who is now in my mid 40's. I'm a good Catholic (still) and could see through Father Lyle in a millisecond as a teenager in the late 80's. He was creepy and ONLY into the jock crowd, He was rude to any other student. I was in his dogma class and when I sneezed one day in class...he made me apologize to the class! Total asshat.
