FCPS announcement for Friday 3/6

I know a lot of you parents are displeased with the snow days we've been calling as of recent when there was no question the conditions were suitable enough for schools to remain open. Today we have been faced with our most legitimate threat and today was reasonable for a closure, unlike the snow days we've gotten thus far. As far as tomorrow, Friday 3/6, is concerned, our goal is to open on time if we can get enough work done on the roads since the storm should be ending this afternoon. Worst case scenario, if we have to issue a 2 hr delay, we will dismiss schools 2 hrs late to accommodate and make sure the kids get their full education day. Thanks and enjoy the time off.

All Fairfax County public schools and offices will be closed March 6 (Condition 1). Details.
Information regarding the rescheduling of agenda topics originally scheduled for March 6 will be provided within the next few days.

It has come to our attention that with 8+ inches of snow with a trace of ice, that the sidewalks will be unpassable for walkers. Along with the low temperatures around eight degrees, buses may not start and frostbite may ensue.

We are sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused and we will work to improve road/sidewalk conditions by Monday.

The busses' will have a hard time geting started on Friday because its' going too be 11 degrees with alot of ice on the road and sidewalk and also on top of the busses' roof so do to those facters' we will have to dicide tomorrow if were going to have school tomorrow.

No way there is school tomorrow. The snow plus the plunging temps assure closure. Of course the school will wait to tell you. My kids had their homework done last night so they can enjoy the 4 day weekend. Also check blackboard for students in 7th and up - more work will be posted online...

Feel bad for students that have to walk to school. Even if there's a 2hr delay, it gives students 2 additional hours to make it to school.
