Orthodontists - good and bad - advice requested
Posted by: Funkyteeth ()

I've got 3 kids who need braces. Who are the best and worst orthodontists in the area?

Any good ones in Burke or Fairfax?

Invisalign or traditional braces?

Thanks in advance.

Dr. Allen S. Garai in Vienna, Virginia.

The best in the county, by far...

Works well with adults, as well as with children.

Our kid was seen by Dr. Ghaffari in Vienna. He has a good manner, and the work was adequate, but it felt like we were being manipulated when the braces came off. Dr. Ghaffari and the nurse were both cooing about how wonderful our kid's teeth looked. I was put in the position of either saying they look wonderful or sentencing my kid to several months more of wearing braces. The upshot is that I am lukewarm about Ghaffari Orthodontics.

"Nurses" don't typically work in an orthodontist's office.
You were probably dealing with some type of tech or assistant. They are paid to agree with the doctor. So are real nurses.

It appears Dr. Ghaffari bought out Dr. William Thomas’ booming ortho practice after Dr. T shockingly and unexpectedly committed suicide back in 2008.

Dr.T was one of the best and most accomplished orthodontists in the country, and he was right in our own backyard.

Dr. Thomas was my orthodontist. His place was the bomb. He really made it kid friendly. I was saddened when I heard that he had killed himself. Depression is a bitch.

I'm over 40 and my teeth are just as straight as when the braces came off. My current dentist and kids' orthodontist are impressed that my work lasted this long.

I'm calling bullshit on this. It's in the orthodontist's best interest to keep your kid in braces for as long as possible. The longer a patient is in braces, the more money they make. Kids need a lot of reassurances, especially teenagers. You don't have to kiss their ass at every turn either...moderation is ok. It's important that when they come off (assuming they come off at the right time and everything does indeed look great) that you provide an appropriate amount of approval at the finished work. It emphasizes to your kids that the short-term sacrifices to wear braces are well worth the long-term benefits of having straight teeth. And that's a great life lesson...In a few years, they'll be faced with tough decisions like, "Now, should I rape BOTH of these girls that are passed out at this party...or just one of them?"

Now..if you wanna' talk about what braces cost? THAT...is a whole other thread.

YOu probably don't have kids of that age. Otherwise you'd know that whether they're in them for 2 years or 5, it doesn't matter as each treatment phase is a flat fee. So if the braces phases costs 5,000 and they need to stay on longer than the typical 2 years, you don't pay more.

Now, if you want to discuss the many different phases that can be implemented, that's another topic.

He is hell of expensive though. At our consultation I spent most of my time talking to the assistant than him. He seemed super busy jumping from patient to patient. Why would I spend thousands on an ortho who is not giving me particular attention?

from what i hear allot of county workers have done INSURANCE FRAUD

they agree with their corrupt fucking foreigner doctor to fake an illness. doctor gets paid. patient gets kickback for cohorting. insurer gets fucked.

and i know the county hired allot of "desperate" doctors (using state money to buy them private practice)

i think it should be investigated

let's look and see all the rediculous claims filed by apperently very health and wealthy fx co gov employees

for one thing: they go to the doctor for a sneeze
