The name of your company sounds like a penis. How am I supposed to tell my neighbors, "Hey. I got a bundle of Cox this morning?"

Until you change your name to something less offensive, I ain't buying.

With Cox's increases this month, FIOS is now cheaper than my Cox HSI plus expanded TV plus what I am paying for a lame VOIP line. Cox is going bye-bye very soon, I'll give them a call to see if they'll chop my price down otherwise I'm ghost.

Sitting on hold for fios tech support for an hour forty five minutes and they transferred me to billing? (nice!). Anyone else having latency in Falls Church? Been that way since install 4/3, only took 2 weeks for install, I wonder how long it will take to come fix?

I will never use anything verizon until they fix the support line. Verizon HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!

Worst customer service for billing problems, or tech support?

More details please! I'm actually in the process right now of making the switch over to Verizon FIOS from Cox.

(ironically the shill's post reminded me to get it done)

Sorry, wasn't me. I did want to say that I posted this because I live in this county. They provide free services to my kids schools, give back to my community and charities, they are local. I can go down the street and speak to someone face to face about my services if I wanted. I appreciate that. What's that faceless company Verizon done for you and your family lately? Send your money over to tech support in India or wherever? Thanks neighbor!

I feel sorry for anybody who has to deal with COX.

I had them for two years and nothing but headaches and missed appointments. I took a day off work, waited all day, and the Cox guy never showed up. I even called about 5 times to make sure the guy was "On his way."

At 5:25pm I was told, "Well looks like we're going to have to reschedule?" I had some choice words for the supervisor!

Cox sucks for $100, that's a little expensive. I think the going rate is around $20-25 depending the service woman.

Heck that's even better customer service then Verizon.

Verizon tech support has been in shambles for years. They have so many different systems, and so many different levels of support, it's almost impossible to find someone that understands what your doing.

Actually got it in an email from a friend Jingles.

I had my own modem from my former provider and it was compatible for 12.5 download; I would say anything docsis 2.0 or higher. Might want to check with tech support. Can't wait for 3.0 :)

Lightning,
since you are offering to help, perhaps you can help me understand why i am being overcharged for a basic internet service that is subpar quality. average speeds in Japan are 60Mbs and 100Mbs in Australia with a monthly cost of $20. so tell me, why am i being charged $40 a month for 5Mbs?

additionally, why hasnt cox implemented the services they show on commercials about the "digital tomorrow?" every single service they say is going to be in available in the "digital tomorrow" like 100% "on demand" tv viewing is currently possible to implement. unfortunately, i have only seen more and more money being used to show me what i cant have.

so, why should i pay cox to give me shitty service and lie to me?

P.S. fuck you, bitch.

Is 5 mbs the best we can get in the states? What about other large cities like LA or NYC?

100mbs? I wonder why Australia's service is so superior to the US....

What I hate about Cox is the damn service interruptions. I've had my internet and cable cut off 7 times in the past four months. Once it dropped out for three hours right when I was trying to send a file to a client.

When I finally reached their customer service reps (most of whom have trouble speaking English), I was told it was either "equipment problems" or "equipment upgrades."

Fuck Cox! I'm switching to FIOS.

I had Cox once and switch my entire service over to Verizon. It took Cox almost an entire month to come to my house to fix a minor problem with my cable for it was out. It was their error. At least I got credit for the service I did not have. But it took forever to have a field tech to come over to fix a problem.

Verizon, since I have moved over to them. I have more channels than I did with Cox. The few issues I did have. The problems were fixed within a day or two.

Verizon support is terrible.

I was told I was a valued customer (even got a little card to call some sort of 'preferred support' number.)

So I called Verizon a few days before my new house closes, my wife was told, no FIOS for you until 2.5 weeks after your house closes. So she asks if she can get a regular copper line put out (we figure we can wait for high speed and cable), nope, no dice there either.

Future calls end up having me bounced to Indian overflow numbers, tech support, and just about everyone else over the next few hours.

Even calling to cancel service at my old house ended up taking 30 minutes.

We called Cox, a guy came out the next morning. Problems a few days later, a guy came out the next morning. I'm not sure how much of that is 'new customer, we don't want him to cancel,' but it's better than anything I got from Verizon (where after DSL was set up in my old house, it took over a week after the supposed start date for things to work.)

I'm somewhat new to the area and frankly these posts are somewhat concerning there's negative comments for both companies.

I ended up calling Cox because of the offer above and I'm set up for an install later today. I'm a little hesitant but I'll be sure to post in a couple days on how good/bad the install and service is.

You want good service

TV - DirecTV
Internet - Cox Cable
Voice - Cell Phone

Not a single problem in the years of having that combo.
