Lovely, Charming, Beautiful Clifton - It Rocks!
Posted by: I Love My Town ()

Clifton has a heartbeat and a soul.

Clifton is charming.

Clifton is small country town America with class and sophistication.

The houses in Clifton are so cute and neat and kept to historical standards. There are horseback riding trails all around the town of Clifton. All the surrounding properties are zoned for 5 acre minimum lots so there are small farms and horses and even livestock around beautiful little Clifton.

There isn't even a single traffic light in the town of Clifton. Just the flashing railroad lights when a train comes through - which ain't too often but just enough to be charming.

People will actually smile or wave, and even stop to talk to you on the street in Clifton. Anywhere else in Fairfax that kind of stuff would freak you out. But not in lovely Clifton.

The whole town of Clifton participates in holidays and various events throughout the year. What an incredible friendly community that Clifton.

Halloween in Clifton can't be beat - great safe trick-or-treating in a lovely town with tree-lined streets, walking through the fallen leaves along the incredible haunted trail staffed by the townsfolk, and sitting on hay bails under a blanket on a frosty night in the park watching horror movies under the stars while eating popcorn, pizza, and warm hot chocolate (sometimes with a little rum in it).

Kids can walk to Peterson's ice cream store in the summer months and hang out in Clifton - always under the watchful friendly eyes of the locals. Clifton is safe.

You can grab a coffee and crepes at the local coffee shop and talk to your neighbors in Clifton after you walk over to drop off your dry cleaning in the morning.

Clifton has a couple of very nice restaurants where the workers know you by your first name and put you at your favorite table, a wine & cheese shop that will custom order, and a brick oven pizzeria that rocks. The Clifton General Store serves a mean breakfast, lunch, and dinner for affordable prices and even has a bar.

The Paradise Springs winery just outside of Clifton is a lot of fun and has musicians playing live music on weekends. You can bring the whole family and have a blast. Chances are you will run into some of your nice Clifton neighbors and it will turn into a picnic bash.

And there's miles of trails to hike along the scenic creek at Hemlock overlook. Fishing ain't too bad in that creek and there are some nice swimming holes too.

Clifton is full of intelligent, politically moderate, progressive minded, socially liberal but fiscally conservative Americans. The kind of people you want to have as neighbors. The kind of neighbors who will come over and help you out on a project. The kind of neighbors who respect American Values and traditions while also respecting and tolerating foreign cultures and religions and different lifestyles, while also being pro-business, while also loving and respecting nature and the ecosystem, and never discriminating against people based on their gender, race, religion, income level, immigration status, sexual orientation, or personal choices to be vegetarian or to eat the deer they kill in their own back yard

Tea bagging confederate scum would be run out of Clifton in a heartbeat because they are toxic and un-American and should rot in hell.

Therefore Clifton is the very best place in all of Fairfax County!

The rain came down like beads
Bouncing on the noses of the
People from the train
A flock of salty ears
Sparkled in the traffic lights
Feet squelched soggy leaves across the grain
I took my love to Clifton in the rain
And all along the way
Wanderers in overcoats with
Collars on parade
And steaming in the night
The listeners in the Troubadour
Guitar player weaves a willow strain
I took my love to Clifton in the rain
Jacqueline Bisset
I saw your movie
Wondered if you really felt that way
Do you ever fear
The images of Hollywood?
Have you felt a shadow of its pain?
I thought of you in Clifton in the rain

So you're a left wing faggot that doesn't want to pay taxes because you have a high income. You demonstrate your social status through gay lovin' and illegal immigrant worshiping yet not paying the taxes to support Pedro's 8 kids or fund HIV treatments for your promiscuous friends.

You're the worst of both worlds, sister. I'm voting Democrat from now on because you need to pay for your beliefs.

You are correct. The Manassas zip code begins less than one mile (East) down the tracks from the town of Clifton. Old town Manassas and Clifton are both charming Victorian villages.

When I grew up in Clifton it was a very Southern town and would have run out any liberal thinking Northerner. I guess money can buy anything. That's OK 'cause most newbies haven't a clue what they settled into. Good Luck.

Clifton is kind of noisy with 15-20 high-speed trains passing through all day and night.

Not really anything to do there until the paintball park opens up. You have to drive out of town to find a decent meal at a reasonable price.

Clifton is just a speck on the testicles of Fairfax County.

Once a few of the old timers sell out and a large home builder consolidates their land, that place will look every other square inch of Fairfax County. Lots of McMansions, traffic and heroin using high schoolers. It is a matter of time...

Acre to dollar, Clifton is some of the cheapest land in Fairfax for a reason. It's in the middle of nowhere.

PWC should annex Clifton and make it part of Manassas Park.

I rented a house in town for two years. A whole bunch of pushy assholes living there. One lady had legal papers served on me because I put up a redskins flag on Sunday. Guy across the street gave me shit because I had multicolored flashing lights on my Christmas tree, he said only steady white lights are permitted. One summer I took a two week vacation and the grass got a little tall they threatened my landlord with legal action. Fuck Clifton.

The real money and life style is in the nice 3/4 acre lots in Fairfax Station, privacy and location. There are virtually no commercial properties in Fairfax Station. Clifton roads suck.

So sorry, there is no such thing as a private 3/4 acre lot. 5 acre maybe.

This lovely 3,300 sqft Fairfax Station home on Foxhall Terrace sits on one-third of an acre. That's four and two-thirds less than five acres.

Fuck Trummer's! They are a rip off establishment. My bill came to $30. They charged my credit card $300. Thankfully I kept the receipt. American Express took care of it. I've heard where they have done it before to other people. If you go there, keep you receipt or better yet pay cash. I hope the police do a sting on them.

As opposed to this place?!?!?!?!?

Here are the specs:

Features include indoor pool, art gallery, 3-story marble entrance, 12 and 10 ft ceilings, elevator, sauna, exercise room, geothermal radiant heat, golf green, two ponds, 8 car garage, 5 fireplaces, and close to Wash. DC, & Dulles in historic Clifton.

Owner was once trying to sell it for $14 million. Now he's trying to sell it for $7.2 million.

Thus Clifton's lower "tax assessment" percentage increase from last year - the mansions aren't selling; their value has decreased; and therefore their "tax assessment" has not increased compared to smaller homes for which some have bounced back to their 2005/2006 values.

I agree Fairfax Station is the place to live. I love the neighborhoods without sidewalks,it gives a real feeling of privacy. The people are very intelligent and most are executives in the federal government or industry. The average household income in 22039 is a staggering 236K. Over 56% are millionaires, It is the best place to live in Fairfax County, excluding Great Falls and Oakton which are very over priced. Not a single gas station, convenience store or town house development make Fairfax Station a unique place. Thanks to the heavy conservative leaning folks as demonstrated in the complete inhalation of a private development project Burke Lake Park, it's a bastion for successful folks who love this country. God Bless this country and Fairfax Station.

Fairfax Station isn't Clifton. The Occoquan Watersshed protects Clifton from zealous developers and Carpetbaggers. No brass ring for you.

Cliffy, you are "spot on" in labeling Rocky Runners as posers. They are often quick to proclaim that they live IN CLIFTON. What they neglect to disclose is their area was considered Centreville until more recently when Clifton's zip code was "adopted".
This is one of many reasons that those in the town and rural Clifton (east of Union Mill Road) have a disfavor-able view of LRR.
