Police Investigate Homicide in Reston

Police were summoned to the 2200 block of Colts Neck Road on Saturday, April 18 shortly before midnight for the report of a suspicious person. Responding officers located the body of a male, with trauma to the upper body, near a bike path between Colts Neck Road and Reston Parkway. The victim has been identified as Jose Luis Ordones Aguilar, 26, of Reston.

The police helicopter and K-9 units were sent to the area. Detectives and crime scene technicians are on the scene and the investigation continues.

This is the fourth homicide in Fairfax County this year.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477, e-mail at www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org or text “TIP187” plus your message to CRIMES/274637 or call Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.

So, whats the over/under on this being gang related?

Awesome, I used to live right there. Hooray!

My guess is random, or just theft. 26 is pretty old for the gangs around here. They're either deported or in jail, or dead before that

There is a high concentration of illegal aliens in that area. This is how they solve their disputes.

Remember the last shooting in Reston - back in October? That was just a few blocks away

Is Reston not a very nice area? I've never been, but there seems to be a lot of crime there. My impression prior to visiting FU was that Reston was kind of a nicer area of northern Va.

Reston IS nice, once you get north of South Lakes Drive. But the 2 apartment complexes and the cheap townhouse developments at South Lakes and Reston Parkway are like a 3rd world favela.

Soapstone between South Lakes and Glade ... and ... Glade between Reston Parkway and Sunrise Valley is peppered with low income (county subsidized) and public housing. It started to spill over to Colts Neck about 10 years ago and took a steep dive about 5 years ago. As the Latinos started moving in, the people who used to live there moved out.

As a resident, I affirm that Reston is still a nice area regardless of this event. This a terrible incident! If you live in Reston, please ask around, especially in this Hispanic community if anyone knows the young man that was murdered. Please no more gossip just because he was Hispanic, please do your part and call Fairfax County Police if you have ANY clues.

Thank you,

-Ash

ash, while Reston is a liveable place, and I agree with your pleas to cooperate with the police, just think as to how much better crime and education and the local standard of living would be if immigration laws were strictly enforced. And the fact that Section 8 vouchers in many cases are being used to support those illegally here only makes it worse (and people are naive if they think this isn't the case).

This is not anti-immigrant. Immigrants that come here legally generally highly value citizenship and help the fabric of our society. But that is not the case with the bulk of many illegals, who really are the recipients of significant wealth transfers (in addition to depressing the entry level labor market).
