Inova is expanding to ExxonMobil campus

This is great news for Fairfax County, but I think Fairfax should invest in a light rail or BRT to the Dunn Loring Metro station. Fairfax Hospital already causes a lot of traffic.

Laughable that Inova thumbed its nose at McAuliffe's offer of state funding "with strings" and decided to just stroke a check for the property.

This will quickly become the largest concierge medicine facility in the world. And no, they won't accept medi-anything.

How is this great news for Fairfax County?

Another large tract off the tax rolls. Tons more traffic. Hundreds if not thousands more kids in schools funded mainly by real estate taxes of which this "campus" will pay zero.

Oh wait, the Inova motherfuckers might pay a few cents sales tax on their lunch. That'll cover it!

It will bring high paying jobs and educated people to the county. That alone makes Inova a worthy company to replace ExxonMobil. It will not bring any kids to the county; I don't know how you figure that.

Exempt does not happen based on the nature of the owner, but on the nature of the activities that are carried out. Likely that some portion of the parcel will end up being exempt and that the rest will not. It all depends.

$200 Million

That's comes out to 1 turf field in taxes paid per year. Or for Arlingtonians 2 bus stops.

From 2010 to 2014, ExxonMobil paid $10.27 million in property taxes on those 117 acres. That would comfortably have been enough to build about four bus stops per year over in Arlington. Some people are just DUMB, DUMB, DUMB! So dumb that they'll make even bigger asses of themselves below....

Don't want to talk about your Aspergers? Maybe the new Inova complex will have wing for people with your affliction.

Inova Fairfax Hospital is way too huge already. Had family member there for a few days last month as required care specialty that closer Fair Oaks Hospital did not have which most often use. Inova Fairfax Hospital is a dozen plus buildings, with the couple I was in a catacomb of hallways and up and down ramps. Even bringing someone with me who is the assistant pastor of church who goes there every few or several weeks for hospital visits, even he needed directions inside the building. They red coat volunteers guiding visitors, the one I spoke with during one visit who even took me all the way up to the floor and room where family member was a patient, she said it took her three months to learn the campus.

Traffic is not worse on Woodburn since the change.
3 factors for this:
- As with most hospitals there isn't a huge 9-5 work staff.
- The changing lifestyle of that area in particular. Mosaic/Dunn Loring/Tysons offers a less car dependent life.
- Nothing in the old Exxon-Mobil site.

The new campus will be Inova cancer and genome research NOT Fairfax Hospital or patient care.

Correction: it will bring high paying jobs and educated people to work in the county by day but then trek back home to Loudoun and Faquier in the evening.

I'm a realtor and when Exxon left town Fairfax Station took a hit. Lots of homes went on the market and prices in that area dropped. Inova coming in will help Fairfax Station a lot because this complex will bring people with it who can afford that area and will want to have close proximity to their job.

So it will not contribute to the county's tax base as Exxon did.

It's impossible to say at this point.
The education portion doesn't mean they won't pay real estate taxes.

It is called the INOVA Center for Personalized Healthcare (ICPH).
It wants to be similar in model to the Mayo and Cleveland Clinics.

They are said to be recruiting world-class physicians and researchers. The majority of those people will be living close to the campus. That means more real estate/income/sales/food/hotel taxes.

It could also be a destination site for patients possibly world-wide (see all the Saudi's already in the area). DC is already easier and closer to access from the Middle East and Europe than Cleveland and Minn. More taxes collected from hotels, restaurants, etc.

It will also work on genome research so it could also have magnet effect to pull some companies over from Maryland.

Streetcars are making a huge comeback.

Just like Arthur Treacher's.

Both a great value for the money! One is a great form of transportation on a budget.

The other provides amazing fried fish for a competitive price.

It's win-win!

Wrong! Streetcars are for Rice-a-roni.
That is a meal cooked at home.

Arthur Treacher's is a glorious restaurant with amazing fish and chips.

"Exceeding expectations" doesn't really say much. It's ridiculously expensive by any measure - 2.2 miles @ ~$250 million and ridership is tiny compared to bus service along the same/similar routes even with the free fares. It will never be economically viable. The development happening in the same area isn't because of the streetcar as some proponent now seem to be claiming; rather, the streetcar was just one small part of the overall development plan for the area.

see i would have said it's fairfax democrats pushing a "more american" oil company and job provider off their office park land (ostensibly for a cause no one can argue), using a communist government controlled hospital center as their shoe-in

INSTEAD of using less valued land - WHICH THERE IS PLENTY OF IN THE SAME VICINITY (infact the exxon mobil land itself is mostly un-developed). such as matress stores, town houses for illegals, parks, and more

(you see, to the communist's eyes - exxon mobil is "first to go", not the illegals :)

Hillary and Obama!

"big american corporations have been stealing from you!"

(or are they job providers inside usa stealing from foreign importers who are hoping they all die?)

and then there's the "maintenance crews" who are never denizens and don't care either way: they always get the job and always get paid, they are democrats in fairfax after all

now remember we're talking about the same obama led illegals who:

sued an electrical union out of business because they didn't hire blacks and hispanics who could not pass "closely watched and guarded paper exams"

the same "government union" that put privately owned unions like Truland out of business using government money for control of jobs passing to illegals
