That means, since 1607, when Jamestown was founded, or if you want to start in 1776, whites have comprised over 80% of the country's inhabitants. Whites in colonial America were not in fact any sort of cohesive group at all. Being of different origins, cultures, languages, and religions, they did not much like each other at all and principally lived off by themselves in isolated ethnic clusters and enclaves. Only in Philadelphia to some degree and New York (smaller at the time than Centreville today) to a larger one was there any sort of intermingling among white cultures and ethnicities. Only in the face of frontier threats from natives or the French did cross-cultural groups of whites tend to band or work together. The myth that "whites" wrote our early history is simply silly. There will be a White History Month in the future.
