The Reston Tea Party
Posted by: Rod ()

It was just a great group of very American enthusiasts. It was fun. People were holding home made signs and flags. The rain poured down. Everyone had a good time.

I was there and all I can say is if a "revolution" is coming, prepare to be invaded by an army of portly senior citizens. The oldies are mad as hell and they aren't going to take it anymore...after all, they got theirs, screw the rest of us.

No Altough I carried a open cup of tea actually just because I hapened to have a thermos and it was cold. I saw one police man. It was raining and most people carried umbreallas. It was moved from Lake Ann Plaza to the park where there were more space but still all the parking spots were filled. People came from all over during rush hour and in this area that says something. It was mostly concerned Americans who might of voted Democratic or Republican meeting third party canidates which for once they had a chance to hear. Some were good speakers. I remember the Virginia Constitution party which I'd never really heard of before and that was one of the problems too many Americans think third party but when it comes time to vote they vote ont of the major parties because they imagine it's the lesser of two evils. I'm one of them.

Rod,

I've posed this question for others, but did you drink your tea with your pinky up and did you use a saucer?

Tea parties look like an awful lot of fun. Reminds me of this girl in my old neighborhood who used to gather around all the dolls and play tea party. It's kinda sad, because as much as she talked, those dolls never talked back.

Those teabag douchebags really effed up the commute home on 29. Police blocked off one lane in each direction on 29 for them, not sure why... it was the INSIDE lane. Because of this traffic was a parking lot and I got to look at old nursing home candidates wave signs that didn't make much sense. Everyone knows that the best way to bring people to your side is to eff up the commute home.

The Tea Party protesters were merely exercising their constitutional right to free assembly. They were there to "speak truth to power" as it were. Remember that phrase libs? Now that Bush is out of office you seem to have forgotten it.

May I help you off your high horse, sir?

Where were you when Cheney decided to subvert the Constituion and start eavesdropping on American Citzens without a warrant, without the consent or knowledge of the President?

Where were you when W decided to invade a country on the premise that we were in "imminent" danger of being attacked without any evidence whatsoever?

Where were you when W set aside special zones in order to detain prisoners of war for interrogations and torture, strictly agaist the Geneva conventions?

"Speak truth to power" as it were. Now that Bush is out of office you seem to have forgotten it.

First of all, this is beside the point, the Tea Parties have nothing to do with them or even Republicans for that matter. Anyway, all of the above were approved by Congress, either tacitly or overtly. To say that Bush or Cheney were constitutionally capable of enacting any of this without Congressional approval shows an shocking ignorance and criminal lack of perspicacity.

You are exactly right. Why I remember all the protests against bush the first 90 days of his presidency they were... oh wait there werent any. Guess the libs were asleep at the switch back then. Good to see that after President Obama gives the biggest tax cut in history to the middle class the conservatives are out protesting against taxes - that makes perfect sense.

I also love the way the right wing protesters are wasting no time calling Obama a facist. Probably the extremes of both sides look equally ridiculous. Sure hope Texas succeeds - that would be funny.

Tax credits are not tax cuts, they are transfers of wealth.

Obama has not stopped the domestic FISA program and he is stalling on closing Gitmo. The prisoners will be transferred to similar conditions in Bagram Air Base.
No one who "tortured" will be prosecuted.

When Texas was admitted to the Union, the agreement was such that it may secede if it deems necessary and is the will of the people. I think CA and VT have similar wordings in their state charters.

Prominent Democrats and what they had to say about Iraq and Saddam Hussein when Clinton was in office:

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
- Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

"There is no doubt that .. Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs
continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies."
- Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,)
and others, December 5, 2001

"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the
mandated of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them."
- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in
power."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe
that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real
and grave threat to our security."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated
the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a
particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his
continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ..."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

The Liberal Creed:
Unilateral disarmament, abortions on demand;
Take everybody’s guns away, and toss them in the sand.
Welfare for the homeless, free condoms for the kids-
We’ll not blame the criminal for anything he did.
For who can say what’s right or wrong, or if there’s such a thing as sin?
And if it really matters, whether wars we lose or win?

And that was what, about 20 years prior to the civil war, right? Now would be a pretty stupid time to secede; it seems like it would be hard to deal with the border/drug issues without the help of the USA, but hey, if Texas wants to do it on their own..go for it.

WFB also wrote:"To say that Bush or Cheney were constitutionally capable of enacting any of this without Congressional approval shows an shocking ignorance and criminal lack of perspicacity."

WOW, TALK ABOUT SHOCKING IGNORANCE. PRESIDENT DOESN'T NEED CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL TO EXERCISE CERTAIN POWERS, REFER TO "STEM-CELL RESEARCH" (THE PRESIDENT HAS A WIDE SWATH OF POWER TO CUT FROM). IT IS NOT CRIMINAL TO BE STUPID, OBVIOUSLY, BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT IN JAIL.

KETTLE, MEET POT.

Because the above is not scary shit....Scary SHIT is the Marxist Messiah aspiring to be a dictator.....just like Stalin, the admin is taking over the banking system, taking over businesses, starting a inside military he calls "volunteer", forcing us to "volunteer", trying to tax our asses and those of next generations to come....

that's why idiot....Telepromper Jesus is just a puppet for left wing radicals like Geo Soros....watch "the Obama Deception" on you tube dumbass

Luke; Marxist Messiah, Stalin, Taxes.

I think you hit every knee-jerk term straight from that bullshit "movie", talk about a puppet. Can't you think for yourself instead of parroting right-wing BS spouted by paranoids and conspiracy-kooks?

I will stand up and say that its a bad move, but we knew this when he supported 6304 before the election. Didn't like it then don't like it now.

I got a kick out of the news reporters saying half the people who attended the rallies did even know what they were for.
