And this "raid" was led by the same cop who was responsible for the highly successful undercover work that led to the righteous execution of Sal Culosi, that heartless gambler...well, heartless after his heart was blown through his back by that SWAT cop...

If you read the article, you would've noted that there was a 1.5% rake. On a $150,000 pot, that's $2250.

Why would they do this?
Answer: “...in Virginia state courts the local police agency may keep 100 percent of what they seize. And what the Fairfax police organized crime and narcotics section, which investigates gambling, will do with their seizure proceeds, they will not say....”

These are not the people that the gambling laws were meant to thwart. The cops claim that this situation has brought about armed robberies.

Those arrested will not be getting all of their confiscated money back.

So the cops came in, armed, and took money.

Those lazy fuckers won't go after dangerous criminals, just lucrative ones.

Fcpd really needs to find something better to do. Who cares if these people want to waste their money. If they don't have anything better than they can start cleaning the streets and pick trash or do traffic at schools! What a shame for our country because of these useless arrests and wasting resources.

This was a quick shakedown. A $500 fine for all, get them worried about having a criminal record, take 40% of all the cash you find... they're more corrupt than mobsters.
Gambling is illegal in VA, but the largest gambling enterprise is the state lottery.

You're right about the premise but dead wrong with the details. There is pretty much no chance there was a pot anywhere remotely close to 150k. A rake is taken on hands that see a flop, not on the total amount of money people are issued.

On a quiet weeknight among the stately manors of Great Falls, ten men sat around a table in the basement of a private home last November playing high stakes poker. Suddenly, masked and heavily armed SWAT team officers from the Fairfax County Police Department burst through the door, pointed their assault rifles at the players and ordered them to put their hands on the table. The players complied. Their cash was seized, including a reported $150,000 from the game’s host, and eight of the ten players were charged with the Class 3 misdemeanor of illegal gambling, punishable by a maximum fine of $500. The minimum buy-in for the game was $20,000, with re-buys allowed if you lost your first twenty grand.

because something is "ill eagal" doesn't mean a military can swarm in and point weapons endangering (sometimes shooting unarmed) the denizens at large

ALSO: it IS legal in many states so, it cannot be unconstitutional. certainly it's only a tort, a citation complaint, or a city code.

because the states must all agree what is and is not subject to military action (totally illegal)

the constitution is clear that citizens in one state shall share the constitutional rights of the citizens in all the states

and then there's gambling and lottery federal laws - giving government more rights to gamble than that of denizen businessman

they're hidden in the sports section of the federal law

usually a citizen must sue a government worker(s) directly because the State or Municipality code is not a fault

Culosi family does not have a right to $2 million for sufferage. for compensation of a lost earning giver - yes - if insurance did not pay - the the town's people would owe.

HOWEVER MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE CULOSI FAMILY WAS AWARDED $2 MILLION BY A YET TO BE NAMED JUDGE - WHERE OTHER FAMILIES WITH DEAD FAMILY MEMBERS WERE NOT

which would be ILLEGAL favoritism in the least - or a mob killign and mob bookes on the darker side

Virginia is a Commonwealth. no citizen and denizen of VA (not illega, denizen) is allowed legal favoritism others do not get

Virginia state courts the local police agency may keep 100 percent of what they seize

VA state court cheated me in court and dodged court

they cannot keep %100 on a scoff law - a fine is all

and i still remember them re-negging on the lottery vote and perverting it

the law allowed the lottery money to be accounted for in public school spending

VA re-negged, and without a vote, began using the money for employee pay outside the taxable system of accounting

But Virginia law defines “illegal gambling” as any wager of money made for a chance to win a prize or stake based on any contest “the outcome of which is uncertain or a matter of chance.”

Virginia State law also forbids government workers to pull more than one paycheck (have more than one title)

As far as I know, 29 50 and 7 are all east/west roads. Am I wrong?

What is entrapment? Isn’t there a law against that? Didn’t Bullock approach Culosi, pose as his friend and then persuade Culosi to increase the amount he was betting so Bullock could arrest him... I mean, shoot him.

Cops playing at being jack booted thugs. They've got all these expensive toys to play with, why not violate your rights and kill you so they can have some fun?

You are wrong and right. 29 goes south to north, but as it snakes it's way through the county it goes east to west before turning back to south/north.

yea in Mexico you'd expect to be shot for winning at gambling

but in Vegas you expect to get your money for winning at gambling

most people just shoot themselves when they realize how much money they gambled away

they didn't shoot *anybody*

the police knew who won the game, pulled over, shot him, took the money

that gives rise to the police being legal suspects. there is only one prime assumption: they were acting as part of a mob (the police were)

while it's the primary assumption and it is other assumptions that must show proof before being discussed

it still must be proven it was not accidental

(however, VA records written by democrats? seem to be saying VA police have a record for shooting whoever wins at poker)

you have to realize a NJ democrat is going to burn all accounts of good behavior by VA polititians of the past, and insert documents that make VA appear to be a sack of shit state like NJ - who's cops gamble and shoots the winner if it is not themselves
