New to area any reccommendations on where to go

There are lots of good places. Cyclone Anaya's in the Mosaic District (Merrifield) is good. Basically, just stay away from Falls Church and you should be fine.

Thats the place, plus enchiladas, beans , rice and all kinds of food AYCE buffet desserts, ice cream, frozen yougurt,cheap.

Dont listen to the crybabies here that want a 7 course meal for 3.99 .

Just read the reviews for Cyclone Anaya's, not so good. Glad I knew better than to take the word of someone who calls Merrifield the Mosaic District.

The best taco salad....the dining room at The Virginian. And it's under $5.

Manassas is the place to go for great taco salad. Any place that starts with el.

You must be pone of the smart ones. No matter what you think of the area or the restaurant, Cyclone Anaya's is in fact located in the Mosaic District. Don't go there if you don't like it.

Tippys taco in merrifield has a good taco salad with the tortilla. Some places have a salad without the tortilla ie. chipotle. Guapos in fair lakes is an excellent mexican restaurant. Never had their salad but their chimichangas are delicious and that corn meal appetizer with sour cream is money with dos equis ber.

I'd say for any other tex-mex? Anita's is the place. Sure, the waitstaff can be a bit surly until they know you as a regular. But the price is right, and their breakfast burritos are good. The enchilada lunch special is good. I haven't had it in a long while (hitting the gym instead) but it's good.

However, if you just want a standard taco salad - made exactly the way YOU want it? Go sign up for Old Country Buffet's CRAVE thing. Within a couple of weeks they will send you tons of coupons. Half of the stuff at OCB is crap, but when you have a $5.99 lunch coupon? Well, go straight to the Mexican food bar. Except for the odd occasion (it happened once) when it hasn't been refreshed? There is literally everything. You can just put together whatever you want. Great place to hang out and read, and also a great place to listen to old people complain about "kids today" etc. The possibility for people-watching here is EPIC. I've seen stuff that shocked even me.

Most of the dessert buffet sucks. Try the tres leches cake though. Very nice.

I've never had the taco salad at The Virginian. Everything else there is very good, though, so I'm betting it's good too. Virginian is one of those places where everyone can find someone they are happy with. Nice staff too.

I hate to be trite, but Tippy's across the street from the Huntington Metro station has a great taco salad. I think it's the special of the day once a week. Not sure of which day.

For the price, it's hard to beat.

Go to Chuy's off lee hwy in Fairfax for an awesome taco salad, they have really good burritos, enchilados and tacos too

Jason's Deli isn't bad. Plus they have an ice cream machine.

I actually visit with my dad at his Independent Living Facility and have lunch ever other week or so with him. The food at some of these facilities can be pretty good overall.

I had the meatloaf special at the Virginian restaurant a few weeks ago. It was expensive and nothing tasted good. All seemed fake like powder potatoes and overlooked green beans. Nothing had flavor. Big disappointment.

Your a good person to visit your dad. A lot of family members never or rarely visit.

I've only dined in nursing homes a couple of times (I work in health care). Mostly it's mediocre, but the Inova LTC places come out with edible stuff sometimes.

Again, good for you for visiting your dad. He's lucky to have you - sounds like he raised you right.

I've never had their meatloaf.....but I'm not a big fan of meatloaf. I like their greek salad and spaghetti. Rest of my family likes the breakfast stuff, and the gyros.

I looked at their menu and saw no Taco salad. So, color me foolish - the Virginian mentioned earlier is indeed an assisted living facility. My bad.
