According to weather.com it's not going even remotely look like snow until overnight Monday - Tuesday.

Go to bed early kids, you're going to school on Monday.

No sense listening to 4 day predictions when they can't predict 1 day in advance.

i am pretty sure that fcps will close anyway

This storm is now predicted to deliver more rain than snow. FCPS will probably close through Thursday, though.

Yet global warming alarmists are absolutely sure of what will happen 20 years from now. Nevermind that every dire prediction has proven false.

It's like 50 out today and will be 40 at night so how's it supposed to snow? Meteorologists just like to feel important.

SNOW...POSSIBLY HEAVY AT TIMES...

* ACCUMULATIONS...1 TO 2 INCHES.
* TIMING...SNOW WILL BEGIN LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH
LATE MONDAY AFTERNOON. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL WILL OCCUR
BETWEEN EARLY MONDAY MORNING AND MONDAY AFTERNOON.
* TEMPERATURES...IN THE LOWER 30S.
* WINDS...NORTHEAST 10 TO 15 MPH.

PS. Ya gotta love these people who believe in God, but not global warming. Man, is that dumb or what!

Yeah. The earth goes through natural cycles. We are in a warming trend now but it's not as Al Gore and the libs say it is.

Currently it looks like freezing rain and temps of 37 starting at 2am. Supposed to drop another degree at 6am, start snowing, and then stop at around 8am. That is like the worst time frame ever, because I think they usually decide whether to close or not at 4 or 5 am, and it's supposedly not arriving until 6am. Glad it's not my call. No wonder what they decide, somebody will be upset and complaining.

It's not supposed to snow all night, or even all morning. Just a couple of hours. If it sticks, I won't be able to get up a hill on the way to school, so mine won't go until the roads are cleared. But if it sticks, they will probably close anyway. If it doesn't stick, or if they can keep the roads clear? There might not even be a delay.

Who knows? We might get a two hour delay. They might close. I pack lunches and prepare for school to happen, but I also have math, writing activities, and extra reading all ready to go just in case it closes.

Sure, it would be NICE to know earlier, but I'm pretty sure they try and do the best they can.

Yes, it's exactly that. Everyone knows all about these "cycles" that you've just discovered, and you still can't explain the current data without a significant CO2 term in the equation. Greenhouse gasses are the problem, and it is human activity that is creating those.

It's THE SAME people who will be upset and complaining no matter what they decide. Bunch of TEA Party-grade airheads who simply hate FCPS and all other forms of cooperative social enterprise.

If the weather prevents them from learning in a public school building, well, that sucks. But they aren't going to hang out at home playing video games all day. Sure, an hour or two to break up the monotony is fine. But they have stuff to do that is in their homework agendas, and both have math tests coming up this week that they are supposed to study for. We have lots of books and both of them enjoy reading. Writing practice is something both of their teachers have suggested they practice because they NEED to practice. What, I'm supposed to just ignore all that because of snow?

Some parents just let their kids lounge at home playing Grand Theft Auto, or wasting time on Snapchat. and then wonder why their kids are driving them crazy. I don't. I don't want them to grow up lazy and stupid. Sure, we will work in some sledding time into the day, but they are NOT going to play all day just because school is closed. I keep them busy, do my own work, and everybody is a lot calmer.

What other parents do with their kids on snow days is entirely up to them. I'm not saying what other people should do. I'm just saying that a couple of inches of snow is not an excuse to let my kid park their brains on a shelf for the day.

Your mileage may vary, do whatever you want with your own kids. You will be the one living with the consequences, so why should I care?

What a brilliant comeback! Sorry I insulted your favorite video game/preferred activity for a snow day. Here's some Kleenex.

Come on guys, seriously. Why do we all have our panties up in a bunch about FCPS making a right or wrong call on the weather like our lives depend on it? THEY are not the meteorologists, it's the meteorologists job to predict the weather. Not FCPS. FCPS can only listen to the weather experts and determine a decision based on what they hear. I'm surprised everyone gives FCPS so much heat when the heat should be directed at the meteorologists. If FCPS cancels because they are listening to a weather expert that a storm is supposedly coming, and a storm never comes, that's on the weather experts for not doing their jobs, not FCPS. From here on out, we all need to unite. We need to reconsider the disagreements we have with FCPS and find out who we really should be going after. I say we nominate a leader and start an advocate's group. We have the numbers. In the meantime, just heard we could be looking at over 6" accumulation throughout the day/evening. Let's stick together, guys. Thoughts?

Good advice. People who excel only at stupid should probably not be mouthing off quite so much. They probably SHOULD be paying more attention to experts and specialists in matters of climatology, and for our slowsters here, yes, that's an English word.
