How to evacuate from metro

Basically if you are in a tunnel like the one the train got stuck in look for the side of the tracks with lights. Avoid the tracks, third rail, and undercarriage of the train.

The plan suffers some when the lights are blown out and no one can see two feet because of some smoke. Additionally, there was no cause or order to evacuate. The thing to do was what was done. Try to remain calm, stay near the floor, and wait for help to arrive. Leaving the train in the dark is a very, very bad idea.

They must also hand out flyers for "how to evacuate on Metro"
Seems many of the riders use it as their own personal lavetory.

The third rail is not consistently on one side of the car or the other. It shifts back and forth depending on where along the track you are.

Well I was able to get through college and grad school. I have a feeling when it comes to the orange line and silver line in Fairfax most people on there are have been to college. Which is more than you can say about most metro employees.

i've heard of MAYBE one incident when pasengers would benefit from staying in the vehicle - and it was an isolated set of circumstances and never REALLY investigated if the claim was true - that it's safer to stay in the stopped vehicle
