I saw the crew of 24 filming in Vienna last night around 3am, is this for the current series?

There are only 6 episodes left, so they've probably finished shooting this season by now.

What - they don't have crappy brown strip malls in LA?

They are filming for next season. The plot line for next year's episodes involves homegrown anti-urbanism terrorists longing for days gone by. They are creating an economic weapon -of-neighborhood-destruction to retard growth and progress in complete disregard for the changing business, residential, traffic, and community models in immediately surrounding areas. They have fully infiltrated the local government and are seeking to keep things "just the way they are" because it worked so wonderfully in the 1950's and they don't recognize that development = progress, and lack of progress = stagnation = non-appreciating home values = declining tax base = blight.

Vienna is naturally ground zero for such operations.

In a departure from prior seasons, Jack doesn't shoot them in the face but instead tries to explain that their plan will only destroy the community in the long run because after they all die of old age they will be replaced by people who just need a place to live close to Metro and don't have any sense of community because they work, shop, and play in Tysons,DC, and (dare I say) Mosaic in Merrifield.

I won't spoil the ending.

Because there's no better place to film then in downtown Vienna. LOL

It's an episode where terrorists are found hiding in the Vienna Inn, and then Keifer Sutherland launches into an hour long rant about all the "fuckin beaners" that live in those crappy apartments over at Cedar Lane.

lol, yeah, this is the one where Jack Bauer joins a group called "Help Save Vienna", and then he spends the entire episode taking pictures of Latinos loitering in a parking lot and then posts them on a website.

Actually, the plot involves a group of Arab terrorists who are trying to escape by breaking into the camel pin at Reston Zoo.
