lol..you wont find me defending the koran...or just about any other reigious book..they are all political documents. Perhaps relevant in their days and times...but we have..or should have grown beyond all of them. I am surprised by your holding onto 19th century values and perspecive. I can forgive Lincoln for all his sins and even your Dabney fellow..they were both men of their times...though one was able to look beyond his own experiences while another wallowed in his own experiences even after loosing the war. You however...Mr Lee...what kind of country do you want America to be in the 21st century? Would you justify slavery in America today?....Apartheid?....Jim Crow? Nehter Davis nor Lee nor Dabney ever commited a sin (not in the context to which you refer), as they were acting precisely as Washington, Adams and Jefferson had...and Dabney was able intellectualize his own experiences, while Lincoln's weird psychological disorders left him wallowing in his own experiences up until his execution...

Lee was a war criminal. He fought..caused the death of men under him..even as he knew his military cause was lost. And as far as Dabney...his sin was if nothing else..the sin of pride.
