Check by Philadelphia. Double yolks are not uncommon in Pennsylvania Dutch country. A company called "Sauders" sells them by the dozen.

I used to shop at Wegman's a lot before I moved and they carried a brand
of eggs that usually had about 8-10 double yolkers per dozen. I can't
remember the name now but it started with a "B".

The Yorkshire market in Manassas always had double yolkers by the dozen but that place has been gone 15+ years now. I am going to weggies in the morning to get some of those bad boys.

Eggs are good for you! They are a great and inexpensive source of high-quality proteins. Your body can only produce 12 of the 21 amino acids it needs to build things. The other nine must be obtained from the diet, and eggs have all of them. Eggs are the standard against which the protein-profile of other foods is gauged. Your daily intake of cholesterol from eating eggs simply allows your liver to produce less of the stuff each day. Unless you go egg-crazy, serum cholesterol won't vary by much.

I raise some chickens and the xlarge eggs are usually double yolks. But if your really into yolks, emmu or turkey eggs are really something. Hard to get though because they mostly go to hatch new birds. I have a turkey and get a hundred or so eggs a year and they taste good and are a bit more rich. As for cholesterol, that myth was debunked years ago. Just something that was the standard"what do we injest the we can scare the public with this year that will kill you" bullshit that I've been seeing for decades. Most things in moderation are just fine for most of us. Enjoy what you like.

Double yolks are twins, not mutated. Also, out in the country, we call free range or "organic" chickens "chickens in shit". Chickens are very messy birds. You have no idea what a big barn with 3 or 4 thousand chickens looks like. Messy. The big chicken farmers do keep their birds in small areas in very large buildings, but it stays clean. As for true free ranging, too many animals eat chickens, so you can't let them roam as they won't last long. Half of mine are free range so they will eat all the tics and bugs around the property. But I loose a couple of dozen each year to possums, owls, red tails(hawks), cats, neighbors dogs, foxes, racoons, pigs, my own live stock dogs if I'm not careful, ect. Everything likes chicken.
