A storm system will ride up the Mid-Atlantic coast Monday, spreading precipitation over the Washington, D.C. metro region. Cold air will be in retreat, so snow is not expected. However, enough cold air may linger for the possibility of freezing rain and some iciness Monday morning.
Federal workers and others who have the option to telework should consider bringing their laptops home this weekend. Motorists should keep a close eye on the forecast over the weekend. Anticipate the chance for challenging driving conditions and be prepared, if necessary, to alter commuting plans.
We do not expect a major ice storm from this weather system, but rather a chance for period of ice that gradually changes to plain rain Monday as temperatures rise above freezing. If the onset of precipitation holds off until around mid-morning – when temperatures will have had the opportunity to rise above freezing – mostly plain rain would fall with minimal impacts on the region.

Freezing rain is serious shit. Sounds like a good time to keep your wiper blades up to keep them from freezing to the windshield andndamaging the expensive blades.
If someone tells you otherwise he probably works at an auto parts store and wants to sell you expensive replacement blades and wiper motors that also can burn out and cause a fire or smoke hazard for you, your family and loved ones who ride in the car.

Growing up in PA and New England, I never saw anybody put their wipers up. Down here everybody seems to do it. Just don't turn on your wipers until the window is clear and defrosted. Are people really that dumb? Oh ya, I'm on FFXU.

Last year the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, NHTSA, reported that over 1,385 cars and light trucks had their wiper moter sieze due to ice and snow accumulation resulting in fire and the complete loss of 723 vehicles and over 38 deaths due to fire and smoke inhalation.
Almost 95% of these incidents could have been prevented by simply raising your vehicle's wiper arms off of the front window glass before any snow or ice event, no matter how small the chance may be in the weather forecast.

Please, don't be a victim and put your family at risk. Raise your wiper blades.

I noticed that my jeep grand Cherokee has what look like vents in the ceiling above the rear door. I never thought it had anything but the heat strip. I wonder if it blows air on it as well..
