All of the charges from 2/18/2009 go before a judge on 4/13/2009, so like, next week. He's already served time for previous offenses and he's already been convicted twice on marijuana charges. I suspect he'll be locked up for a good long time with this most recent, and increasingly more violent, set of charges.

Why would he bother to show up in court?

Easy. He's in jail pending trial. He was arrested in February after assaulting a police officer. Here is the writeup from a Fairfax County Incident Report.

"On February 18 around 7:00 p.m., an officer saw a man walking through a parking lot in the 6000 block of Richmond Highway carrying an open beer. The officer stopped him and during the investigation, the man allegedly struck the officer and fled on foot. 23-year-old Charles Kibler, of no fixed address, was located nearby. He was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with assault on a police officer, felony obstruction
of justice and possession of an open container. No one required medical attention."

he was added to the most wanted list on 04/01/09 and he is still on it

If he really was released on bail after being arrested on two felony counts and with his prior record, then the judge who let him post bail should lose his job.

his priors have little to do with allowing him to post bail. what does have everything to do with it is that he has previously been a fugitive.

Your record is taken into consideration, especially if you're coming in on felony charges. Bail is only set for people who are not likely to flee and who are not likely to keep breaking the law if they are released.

It's moot anyway since he was released.

Actually according to his updated record, he has various assaults and death threats charges. It's only a matter of time before he kills someone, or kills himself in some sort of death by cop.
