Un-marked State Police SUV

Saw this VA State Police SUV. Never knew they had un-marked SUV's (as in no visible lights on the car)

Actually, that would be referred to as a slicktop since an unmarked would have no markings whatsoever.

And also the big ass sticker on the side that says Virginia State Police would make it "marked"

Yeah, odd definition of unmarked. And I'm sure it has embedded grill lights and such, so one couldn't even call it "unlit."

Anyway, it is a Motor Carrier Safety unit. It's basically a truck / freight vehicle inspector, not a traffic enforcement vehicle anyway. You'd normally find these at weigh stations and such place.

Why the hell would VSP need a giant, gas guzzling, $40,000 SUV to inspect trucks??? Make them drive a freakin' Impala or something.

Because truck inspectors typically need to carry around a lot of heavy equipment. Portable truck scales, large toolboxes, mechanic's creeper, etc... Way too much crap to haul in an Impala.

I have seen this SUV pulling over a car that ran a red making a left hand turn. Im pretty sure that they actually enforce traffic laws too.

I can actually see the windshield from the front driver side window, which is surprising since most statie cars I've seen pretty much darker than dark.

Just because it's for truck weight enforcement doesn't mean they a required to turn a blind eye to other traffic violations. Window tinting poster, read Va. code 46.2-1054(K)-this code section does not apply to law enforcement vehicles.

It is a "motor carrier safety unit" they enforce weight and what semi trucks are carrying. They will have red light-bars instead of the state police blue light-bar.

police are exempt from tint and also state code says they can park or stand anywhere in the performance of duties

yeah, be careful...these donks will definitely pull you over too...seen them pull over speeders on 66...they mostly hunt the big trucks but will f with others if they are bored or can't seem to catch a tractor on the hook
