ARod could be traded to DC!!!

ESPN is claiming that the NATS could be in play for a trade that would send Jordan Zimmerman and Ian Desmond and a 3rd round pick to the Yankees for ARod, Brian McCann and a prospect from their farm system.

If that's true, I would be embarrassed to make it public.

I call bullshit OP. No way the Yanks or Nats pull of this trade. It's a lose-lose on all sides.

I just have 1 question...why the fuck do people waste their time posting stupid shit that isn't true on this site? Are you that fucking bored and retarded that you must post fake shit to get your daily jollies? I swear to God the average age on this forum is fucking 15. I always ask myself why I keep coming back here, but then I remember that 10% of the posters here actually have intelligent or funny shit to post and that I actually might learn something on occasion.

I'll make this short and I'm not trying to bust anyone's balls except for the OP. Anyone who follows baseball closely would know that the proposed trade from the OP is the stupidest shit in the history of baseball trades (for the Nats). And to top it off, MLB is the only major professional sport that is NOT ALLOWED to trade draft picks. So once this douche said that a 3rd round pick was involved, you know this guy is an asshole who spends his time jerking off to FFXU every night.

I agree with almost everything you wrote, but MLB teams are able to trade some draft picks. Now, we know that players selected in the first round cannot be traded officially for a year (see Trea Turner), but the Red Sox traded Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes to the A's for Yoenis Cespedes and their 2015 "competitive balance" draft pick.

Quote

The A’s also sent their competitive-balance draft pick next June to the Red Sox, the second pick following the second round of the draft.

So, you could almost construe that as trading a third-round daft pick.

ESPN is completely full of shit. That Nationals or any team for that matter is not stupid enough to trade for that worthless has been.. You get nothing in return for that trade except a guy who pumped up his stats on roids and is now aging out of the league.

But someone was stupid enough to take the OP seriously. It's a good day for fishing.

Nobody drafted in the Rule-4 draft can be traded for a year. As of the 2012 CBA however, 12 bonus "competitive balance" picks were added to the Rule-4 draft -- six at the end of Round-1 and six more at the end of Round-2. They are awarded by lottery in July among small-market/small-revenue teams. These bonus picks can be and often are traded right up until the day of the draft. As of now, bonus picks in 2015 will be...

Group-A (Picks 37-42): HOU (from MIA for Cosart)-COL-STL-MIL-SD-CLE
Group-B (Picks 70-74): CIN-SEA-MIN-BAL-ARZ

BOS would have picked second in Group-B with the pick they acquired from OAK in the Jon Lester trade last July, but that pick was forfeited when they signed Hanley Ramirez as a free agent in November.

In addition of course, there are two types of compensation picks. The first is for 2014 draft picks who went unsigned. HOU will have the 2nd overall pick this year (in addition to the 5th) because they could not sign their 2014 1st Round pick, Brady Aiken. The Nats will similarly have the 58th pick this year since they were not able to sign 2nd Round pick Andrew Suarez last year.

The second type is for the post-2014 loss of free agents who turned down a qualifying offer and then signed with another club. These picks are exercised after Round-1 just before the Group-A competitive balance picks. COL will pick 29th because the Mets recently signed Michael Cuddyer. ATL will pick 30th because the Twins signed Ervin Santana. There will be at least six more of these, and perhaps eight, depending on where Shields and Scherzer sign.

If steroids were the "Magic Beans" that some people think they are, Nook Logan would have been an All Star. Like cortico-steroids, anabolic steroids are useful in keeping your body whole and strong and on the playing field. They do not enable you to either hit or throw a wicked curveball.

Ah, the drunks of New Year's Eve, Part Deux. Sabermetrics have to do the evaluation of player talent and performance. The rules and mechanics of player drafts are a completely different thing.
