Multiple parking tickets while on vacation
Posted by: GoneOnVacation ()

On 12/2, I received a parking citation because my inspection sticker was expired. A little less than two weeks later, I receive two more parking tickets.

I have been gone on vacation and was unaware this had been happening. A friend noticed the tickets and promptly notified me, although it wasn't until 18th. I called the gentleman that left the tickets that day, but he was unavailable and I left a message, informing him I have been out of town. I immediately sent my keys overnight to my friend, and he moved my vehicle on the 19th.

My question is, can I have this dismissed? I have been out of town (still am) and unable to personally address the parking situation. What is the best course of action?

Thanks.

Ask your friend to get the car inspected for you and reimburse him when you get home. That way you won't get further tickets.

Hey OP, if you can afford to go on vacation for 3 weeks and be irresponsible with your vehicle inspection, you can afford to pay the price.

Out of state plates is only way to go.

Avoid the inspection extortion scheme.

Until you fucking retards learn to drive, and start fixing your 3rd world roads, I will not register my vehicle in this state.

So how exactly do you go about fraudulently registering your vehicle in another state? PO Box? Friend/family address?

I don't think your're doing this because you dislike the roads in VA, you're doing it to avoid paying personal property tax.....aren't you?

The penalty for failing within 30 days to register and obtain plates for a vehicle regularly garaged in Fairfax County is a one-time $250 fine, plus an extra $100 tacked onto your regular car tax bill every year until the end of the universe. Almost everyone whop tries to evade this requirement gets caught. They look for you in Metro and Mall lots. Neighbors who pay their taxes get sick of law-flaunting little snot-noses and turn them in. What goes around comes around.

Have your friend drive the car to CarMax and sell it.

You think you're the first person to try that line? They will find you and you will pay. How does it feel to cheat your neighbors, friends, coworkers?

I'm here while at university. Perfectly legal.

Do not attend a non-Virginia university or accept any type of gainful employment.

If you do either. Perfectly illegal.
