Anyone know why there was a cop in the parking lot at Blake Lane and Lee Hwy? He was sitting in his ride all day long, sometimes talking to people walking by on foot.

There is often an officer stationed on either side of Blake Lane. It is called community policing.

FCPD is trying to develop better communication with residents on both sides of Blake Lane.

You can search the arrest lists on this board to understand why.

You can also go to www.fairfaxcounty.gov/police . Click on crime in our community and crime mapping.

I had a homeless guy charge at me on foot in the 7-11 parking lot at that intersection a couple of years ago. Really freaked me out. I jumped in my car and called the cops. That particular area is full of oddballs, probably because of the Lamb Center and the Anchorage Motel nearby.

As for "community policing," I noticed a cop sitting in the business park parking lot a couple of days ago too -- just sitting there in his car. Not much communicating going on.

A few years back a guy I work with was getting coffee at the Fairfax Circle 7-Eleven when some weird homeless guy started screaming at him for no reason. The guy looked just like Jimmy Hendrix and he was wearing a light colored leisure suit. He called the cops from inside the store and they were there in about 2 minutes. Jimmy Hendrix was taken away real fast. It was kinda funny at the time, but if this guy had done the same thing to my wife I would've been pretty upset. This is exactly why the cops hang close by this area.

I live near that intersection and I've NEVER seen cops sitting there for any length of time.

That's why it struck me as odd.

the cops are stopping anybody who crosses the street where they are not supposed to. They even tasered a guy who tried to run away. but they just give you warnings to make sure you cross on the crosswalks. the lady cop told me that if caught again you get a ticket.

Do you mean the 7-11 next to the homeless shelter? That's the only one I know of near there.

Oops, wrong post.

There is a 7-11 at said intersection.
I noticed a cop sitting in the parking lot at the business park there too.
