Don't sleep on the Wildcats. Of course a big drop after this class graduates but still a lot of quality returnees. I see at least a 7 or 8 win season.

6A North top 5
1) Westfield... Always very good
2) Robinson... Young football team in '14, could've had a few more wins if healthy
3) Lake Braddock... Another young team, brings back qb
4) Centreville... Tradition doesn't graduate
5) West Springfield... Returning qbs
Others
Madison... Played lots of juniors
South County... Lots of talent in the building
Patriot & Battlefield... Strong programs, don't know what's returning

What is Westfield bringing back....Clancy the LB, maybe a lineman or two. But who will man the skill positions?

I agree...but you know Kyle Richbourg is not going to play football next year. That will hurt. The prospective starting QB for 2015 decided not to play this year. However, 7 or 8 wins certainly attainable...but they also have changed up the schedule format for next year. I think the Concorde teams are playing a game against the Loudoun teams, and I think CV plays Tuscarora next year.

Why is Richbourg not playing because of the Lacrosse. Who is the prospective QB for 2015 and do you mean he is not playing at all ever again or just took this year off?

CV's QB will be better next year. #7 is a dual threat kid. Not as big as Ferrick but can throw extremely well and he can use his feet to make things happen. Hopefully Haddock uses him correctly.

Looking at their roster I see Tyler Scanlon, Terrel Monticue, Jack Clancy, and Brian Delaney who will probably make the biggest difference next year. Also, if Pearson is back, that will be a huge help in their backfield.

Anyone know who their starting QB will be? Joey Free? Rehman Johnson?

Pretty much no one on offense. But of their top 15 players on defense at the end of the year they had 7 seniors, 6 juniors and 2 sophomores getting all the playing time.

I believe that the patriot conference will have better teams than concord just because LB/WS/SC are all returning a lot of starters while CVILLE/WFIELD graduate a lot of their star players/starters

Doesn't South County lose quite a few players? I believe most of their D-Line and running backs were Seniors, which I thought was the strength of their team.

Also, I do believe that the Patriot schools should be much more competitive this year against the Concorde, but there was a large gap this season between us and them. To me it looks like their is no clear favorite.

Agree with the LB poster. I give LB and WS a bit of an edge as they are bringing back a number of good tested players. However, I think we are just going to have a free for all next year with actually a lot of good competition. No clear cut favorite as in the past few years. This stuff ebbs and flows....

Centreville will absolutely suck next year. The team has nobody left. Aside from a good O and D line they have no secondary and certainly no great to even mediocre RBs. Haddock might even jump ship.

More interesting than Conference 5 (Concorde) vs. Conference 7 (Patriot) is Loudoun County vs. Fairfax County 2015

Centreville vs: Tuscarora and Broad Run
Westfield vs: Briar Woods and Stone Bridge
Robinson vs: Stone Bridge and Broad Run
Oakton vs: Broad Run and Tuscarora
Chantilly vs: Briar Woods and Stone Bridge
Herndon vs: Tuscarora

South County vs: Briar Woods
Lee vs: Briar Woods
West Potomac vs: Briar Woods
Madison vs: Stone Bridge
McLean vs: Stone Bridge
Wakefield vs: Broad Run
Langley vs: Broad Run
Hayfield vs: Tuscarora
Edison vs: Tuscarora

I saw some speculation on the 2014 thread as to how many wins Fairfax will get in these 20 match-ups. Conference 14 also will be graduating a lot of talent...

Can't speak for the area but I know over the past 14 seasons teams like Westfield have lost tons of talent each year and always seem to be more than competitive the next year. Their defense will return 6 true starters, Clancy, Leo, Aiello, Pickett, Huling, and Carron, but 4 other kids who played a tone this past year. That's not counting Martin or Wooden who played a ton the past two years and have started on numerous occasions. Then there's two sophomores who played a ton this year as well.

On offense they have one starting O-lineman returning, Ohanian, but coming into this past season all 5 starters were new. They have Monticue, Pearson, Johnson, and Scanlon at RB's and Wr's, they also have the option of Scanlon playing QB which he's as good at as he is receiver.

Westfield's defense will be there strength next year, anyone who watched the 6A North game can attest to that. The majority of the plays made were done so by underclassmen. Their LB Clancy was all over the field, the Gameday crew mentioned he and Love for Cville were showing how the LB position should be played.

Don't sleep on Cville either, yes they lose like 18 starters or something like that, hard to be exact since so many of their kids played both ways. Also hadn't heard that Richbourg wasn't playing next year, if he isn't that would definitely be a huge loss.

Really when you get down to it the same teams, Concorde, Patriot, etc. seem to be able to replenish their talent fairly well each year, some more than others. It will be interesting to see how it all shapes up but way too early to anoint anyone the team to beat.

It's pretty easy to remain successful when you just take Freedom's best players. I never get why so many ignore the blaintant recruiting.

Re: High School Football 2015

Soco has some serious talent returning:

On Offense eight starters returning:

Three OL starters.
Two QB's (both started at some point.)
Two starting receivers.
RB Damarcus Ramsey, Mike Williams, and two younger guys that can play.

On Defense six starters returning:

One DL, (this will be their biggest loss.)
Both LB's (including Kevin Allen)
Three DB's.

Plus both kicker and punter are returning too.

So that is 16 starters returning next year, and they always have talent on the younger teams. Their JV team that went 6-1 last year, and was loaded with young talent. That is a JV class that was undefeated as Freshman. Look for Soco to be in the mix in 2015.

Also, this is a team that was right back in the weight room one week after the Battlefield loss. They will be ready to roll next season!!

Go Stallions!!!

Yes, please explain. Based upon the very good football rec. teams from the Freedom area year after year for a number of years, it never made any sense why the Freedom V team really sucks year after year. It does not make any sense unless there is some validity that the better players are playing somewhere else outside of the Freedom boundary.

I think the FCPS Recruiting was referring to a few players that either started playing for or were intended to play at Freedom. Not sure about Love at Centreville but Wiggins and Burns, played on the same varsity team at Freedom as freshman, I believe. Wiggins wound up at Centreville and Burns at Westfield, both now playing in college. I'm sure there are others but those come to mind since they're so recent, anyone know of others?

Only about 14 of Ocean Lakes starting 22 started at Ocean Lakes as freshman. Beach area has rampant transfers and recruiting. CVille did great to take that team into overtime. Yes, Wiggins was a transfer but this year all 22 CVille starters played as Freshman at CVille. Can you imagine CVille with a few additional transfers added in like a Gibson or Clancy from Westfield, the Lake Braddock QB or AJ Alexander, etc. They would have been world beaters. Can anyone tell me where to get information on schedules for next year? I see that some opponents are known already.

I'm curious because I have been hearing rumors that both Westfield and Centreville are on Fairfax's schedule next year. Westfield is a traditional opponent, but adding Centreville will make the schedule even tougher (unless it's the case that Centreville is rebuilding next year, as some above have indicated).

The opponents have been released to Region DSAs and to the coaching staffs - not sure that they've technically been made public yet. Additionally, the week-by-week schedule has not been finalized yet - merely the list of opponents for each team. They haven't figured out home and away splits for the games either.

Wiggins and Burns both on the Freedom-SR 2011 roster as Sophomores. But yeah, other than those two I am not aware of any others. Sounds like an exaggeration.

Yeah Centreville is definitely rebuilding. It was a great run. I don't expect them doing anything until the current 7th - 8th graders at Liberty start playing varsity. I coach for SYA and that class has a lot of talent. So we're looking at another 2-3 years until Centreville is in the conversation again for a possible state title. But then again, they can surprise us all and dominate again next year...

Since I am a fan of Fairfax and Centreville is potentially on our schedule next year, I hope you are right about Centreville rebuilding. :) However, since these are kids we are talking about here, anything can happen. Fairfax's experience over the last three years bears this out. Three years ago, the Freshman team was undefeated (that's this year's seniors). Based on that, we thought we'd have a good season this year, but ended up 5-5. Two years ago, the freshman team didn't win any games. Last year's freshman team was 1-5-1. This year's JV team (which was comprised of players from both of those freshman teams) ended up 5-3. Those five wins included a 62-0 win over McLean, and a 13-6 win over Stonebridge (a school that Fairfax never beats). Anything can happen. Those kids might surprise you. .

I'm not sure I follow the point you are making. I was simply telling Centreville that just because their Freshman and Sophomores don't have success as freshman or sophomores, doesn't mean they can't improve and be part of a successful team in their junior and senior years. By the way, according to a JV roster printed from one of Fairfax's JV games, the roster is about 50% juniors and about 50% sophomores, from a total roster of 52 players. Almost 1/2 of the starting offense on that team were sophomores.

Can anyone in the Concorde challenge Westfield/Centreville?? They've separated themselves from the other Concorde schools over the past 5-7 years.

Are South County and Lake Braddock legitimate contenders to win the region or are they still pretenders?

To me to region appears to be down a little bit for 2015.

I also think the region is down this year. Westfield, Lake Braddock, then who knows. Soco, W. Springfield, maybe Hayfield? Don't see Cville doing much more then 7-3 or 6-4.

SC needs to learn how to get out of their own way before they can be taken seriously. Both players and coaches seem to get too emotional against the upper echelon teams.
Until someone proves otherwise I'd put my money on the best teams in the Concorde winning the region. I think that Westfield has the most returning, but centreville is rolling and Robinson was young last year.... Should be fun to watch!!

The Patriot Conference will be on top this year for sure. Lake Braddock, West Springfield and Southy County will all have very strong programs this year.

I'm not sure where you can find every schedule (perhaps they are buried deep within the VHSL website somewhere). However, I do know that some schools have already posted their 2015 football schedule. That tells me that all schedules have been created. If you have a favorite team, check their website first.

Maybe this year soco will play a real schedule- their weak schedule last year hurt them when hey had to play real teams (lb and battlefield). They won't win more than 4 games next year. Small and still undisciplined!

Hold on just one fucking minute. If students in Fairfax County can't go to school because it is apparently too fucking cold outside, why are they expected to be exposed to the trauma and rigor of a contact sport like football?! Seriously, you want them to slam into each other, but your protest when they have to walk 20 minutes to school in 5 degrees or wait at the bus stop? FUCK YOU! You are creating a nation of soft, entitled, little pussies whose sole action is to whine and cower when faced with the adverse and unexpected. FUCK YOU TWICE FOR BETRAYING YOUR CHILDREN!

It's a shame what has happened to football at PVI. This year, there were only 40 boys out for football, and for the first time in many years, they couldn't have a freshman team.

Even so, with the right coach and administrator support, PVI football can be good again, once they move out to Loudon. They should get some nice facilities with that move, and that move should put them near some good football talent. Unfortunately for their program, that move is about 5 years away. If I were a coach, I wouldn't want that job now, but I might want it in five years.

Also... underage kids are teeting with adults paid with tax money? This all will end badly.

What next is he going to put pictures of him burning AP study guides on instantaneous-grams?

No way is this true. If it was they wouldn't have to look far. Coach Murray has in previous years applied for head coach positions. He'd be a great head coach there. Of course their goofy activities director would be too stupid to recognize him.

I don't think any current coach would want this job. There's Lewis from Stafford who may go after it but I think he turned it down last year. Hogan isn't a teacher so I think Powell will get it by default.

All the schedules have been made, and some of the schools have already posted theirs. Fairfax's 2015 schedule (varsity only) is already posted. A few of Fairfax's opponents have also posted their schedules as well.

Is this the same Brian Day that won 2 games in 2 seasons at Herndon?

Heard a wild story about him years ago getting so drunk he walked into a residence where he was unknown and passed out on their couch!!!??? Wonder if there is any validity to that rumor?

Great pick for Riverside!!!!!
