That must have cost thousands of taxpayer dollars and hours to pull off.

Instead of all that money on patrols, why didn't they get 1 cop to sit outside a bar and pull over people who were leaving?

FCPD will round up another 2,500 on DUI charges this year. All of them will have that big-man swagger kicked out of them at the ADC. Oh. and watch what happens to your wallet. LOL!

80 some tickets and a DWI. They made the county money and maybe saved a life or two.

What the fuck is an Operations Support Bureau? Is that really just off-duty cops sitting in bars?

What is missing from these reports are--

* How many officers were involved?
* How many hours did officers spend doing these patrols?

Answers--

Some of these are done with only one or two officers doing these patrols for only a few hours. Some use more officers and last longer.

They also do these patrols during the winter instead of doing drunk checkpoints. Anybody notice that there was no check points listed.

The Operations Support Bureau provides specialized support services necessary for safely and effectively executing both routine and complex field operations, such as traffic control and enforcement, safety education, and specialized weapons and tactical response for critical events. The Operations Support Bureau includes Special Operations, Traffic, and Helicopter.

Police wrote that, so who the fuck knows what it actually means.

"Specialized weapons" means "we get to play with machine guns and it's so fucking cool!"

Then maybe it's working?

Maybe it made an impression on all those sober drivers that rolled through the checkpoint?

A DUI is such an incredibly expensive hassle, you'd have to be a total moron to even risk it. You can call a cab for YEARS for what one DUI will cost you. I got a DUI in 1978 and I'll never forget what a pain in the ass it was, and it's much worse now.

Because that is highly illegal in VA and any good lawyer would get a DWI stop like thrown out immediately.

Not to mention there needs to be reason to pull the driver over. Simply leaving a bar would not be cause enough to execute a DUI stop.

I think they should just shoot drunk drivers right on the side of the road after they fail the breathalyzer test.

Why would it be illegal to follow an apparent drunk person out of the bar and into their car? Reston town center uses roof spotters all the time. It's not illegal and no your lawyer won't get it tossed out.

Seeing someone stumble up to their car then get in and drive is absolutely probable cause to pull them over. There are 1001 ways to pull you over. If they want to pull you over, they won't have an issue finding a reason.

That's correct. But, the cops do trail folks who leave bars in the county once they've witnessed (or, received a tip from someone) what they consider reasonably intoxicated. It happens all the time and if you leave a bar and notice a patrol car behind you, don't think for a second that it's a coincidence. Become familiar with Ford, Dodge and Chevy headlight profiles.

I know a guy who was pulled over for suspected DUI because his front tire touched a yellow line on the shoulder of 66. He was charged with DUI. Paid a shitload for a lawyer. CONVICTED.....probable cause supported.

You aren't going to win a DUI this day and age on a flimsy technicality.

True a police officer can pull a car over at anytime, but there a big difference between pulling a car over and getting a conviction in court.

You need to learn about VA law. I got a good laugh out of your "roof spotters" comment.

Or I can just get a shit faced as I want all night long and then grab my jacket of the car while my uber ride shows up. Plus who needs a cab your girlfriend can drive.

"the point" is either a cop idolizer, a wannabe, a Fairfax County cop, or has a serious case of "Stockholm Syndrome".

In any case, "the point" is just as much of a coward and total pussy, who didn't get laid in high school and fumed at night over all the ridicule for being such a dweeb piece of shit, as all of the current Fairfax county police are and always have been.

Old school Fairfax County cops were really great people and even better police!

Nowadays the Fairfax county police shoot unarmed citizens in the back. They are worse than terrorists because they use their badges to gain the upper hand before committing these heinous murders.

Furthermore some of them kill citizens for sport because pieces of shit Commonwealth's Attorney Morrough and Chairman Bulova have assured them they won't be prosecuted. One Fairfax County cop stated that "the unarmed suspect was suspicious and ran, so I shot him three times in the back" and he laughed as he told this to his buddies on the force. I have a friend who resigned from the Fairfax county police department after hearing this firsthand while most of the officers present cackled in uncontrollable laughter.

Since 2006, at least seven unarmed citizens were executed by Fairfax county police and only one of them fought with the cop trying to make the arrest.

Let the cops believe you don't care- citizens of Fairfax county and maybe one day they'll shoot you because you stagger while they are trying to cuff you you for DWI!

Oh I forgot, you liberal pieces of Fairfax county shit think drunk driving is grounds for on the spot execution!

Uh, that's usually a conservative standpoint. Liberals usually drink and drive while conservatives pray to a folk hero Jesus and beat their wives.

After he couldn't drive anymore, I used to take my dad to lunch at his favorite restaurant every week. I noticed that often there were a few cops in there eating too.

I asked the waitress about it and she whispered that the owner let cops eat for half price.

She didn't get into why this was, but I have to believe it may have been to reduce the chance of them hassling his bar patrons. Just a guess though.

It's been my experience that about 75% of the drunks and drunk drivers are conservatives. They don't give a shit about anybody else.

B) Do you question those pulled over on their political beliefs?
