Domino's has the best value, but certainly not the best tasting pizza. Fox News needs to get out of mom's basement more.

Better hope Typo-Fag doesn't see that. The Fairfax Donato's meanwhile had location problems. Plus their pizza isn't really all that good. I doubt the Vienna store will be around for too long. Church Street Pizza is much better. So are Johnny's, Joe's, Paisano's, Vocelli's, and Pizza Boli. There is also Extreme Pizza, but I've never tried it. Pazzo Pomodoro is of course in a whole different league.

Mamma Lucia - Fair City Mall. Best New York style pizza in Fairfax - period. Thin crust, not too much sauce, perfect amount of cheese - gotta fold it and let the grease drip off before you attack.

Villagio - Clifton. Their brick oven pizzas rock - especially if you go for an authentic Italian approach and select some of their authentic Italian cheeses and meats. A big step up from Villa Bella in Burke - which ain't too bad.

Hops Frog - Burke. Don't laugh. Their oil, garlic, and herb base, 4 cheese layer, coupled with an great crunchy crust are top notch. Add pepperoni, sausage, onion, and green peppers and you will thank me for the recommendation.

Pretty sure Mamma Lucia's was around before 1987 if I recall correctly - my memory is already starting to go.

As a kid there was Shakee's in Annandale - you could watch them make your pizza. Loved going by Jhoon Rhee Karate - Nobody Bothers Me. Nobody Bothers Me Either.
Then Tony's Pizza in Annandale - square pizzas, thin crust, cheap as dirt.
Pico's in Fairfax - was never a fan.
Think I recall Fritzbe's Flying Food Factory having a damn good pizza - memory again.

Shakeys was pretty good. The place there now has good thin pizza, magills.

Th following are worth mentioning...but not ranked.

1. Vocellis, but when fresh out of the oven. For some reason not as good cold.
2. Anthonys in Falls Church. New location as good as the old one. Great cheese.
3. Casa Dmama in Annandale.
4. Joes in Arlington. Spinach and tomato pizza on the buffet crispy and superb.

Shakey's was once a major international chain. Waves of corporate takeovers left it with fewer than 60 stores in the US, almost all of them in California. Shows you what a few Romneyists can do.

You've seen one Tony's Pizza, you've seen them all.

Pico's BECAME Fritzbe's. The one in Annandale would later become Silverado. The one at Fairfax Circle became Artie's. They are now and were from the very beginning run by Great American Restaurants. Randy Norton, Jim Farley, and Mike Ranney, the latter having just passed away a couple of weeks ago.

The truth about Shakey's pains you, does it? They were once a big and successful operation. Then some corporatists bled it dry and left the carcass to rot in California. They are still going strong in places like Japan and the Philippines. Just not in the good old USA.

I LOVE ALL PIZZA. ITS ALL GOOD. BOTH THE CHAINS & THE FAMILY OWNED JOINTS.
I ALSO ENJOY THE FROZEN MICROWAVE/OVEN PIZZAS SOLD @ GIANT.
THEY ARE ALL GOOD. SOME ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS. WHY LIMIT YOURSELF? TRY THEM ALL AT LEAST ONCE.
I DONT REALLY CARE FOR LITTLE CAESARS OR DOMINOS.
PIZZA HUT IS OK. YOUR MILEAGE WILL VARY.
GODFATHER & SHAKEY'S PIZZAS WERE GREAT.
TOMBSTONE & STOUFFER'S FRENCH BREAD ARE GREAT MICROWAVE/OVEN CHOICES.

If you don't know what a Romneyist is, how are you so sure that Inno-Pacific wasn't one of them? That's just dumb.

Inno-Pacific Holdings meanwhile was a holding company in Singapore that had begun life as Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken PTE Ltd. in 1974. They are always on the lookout for acquisitions that can deliver consistent profits, cashflow, and growth potential. That's all they do. They were neither the first nor the last entity to see Shakey's only as an asset to be plundered. However, more than 500 stores nationwide in the mid-1970's became barely a tenth of that with all but everything that remains set in California. Most of the domestic declines came during the Inno-Pacific era (1989-2004). There are some 500 stores now in Asia though.

Pickett Center Long gone, Greek Pizza was great as were many others.Theres was a Chicago style a bit thick baked in a pan. Before it was Kosmos it was Pizza Kazano with Ned and Sam before him. Theres were the typical Arab Pizza house pizza, Small round pan, larger rectangle pan a thinner crust very oily. We used to put paper towls on it and straw drains to get some of the grease off. But it did have a following. Today Pizza Bazano has the same, its the only place left with that style and I long for one now and then.

Today I like the NY Style at Mama Lucia as noted in this thread, and Pizza Hut. Tonys Pizza at Fair Lakes has a large selection of pizzas by the slice many are very good like the zitti pizza and many others. Whole Foods next to Dicks out there also has a pizza by the slice oven and many types all good too There about 3 dollars a slice.Theres a food bar or something in there you can get a slice go in and get a beer there. Primo Family Resturant at Belle Haven shopping center is ran by Greeks and they too have a super Greek Pizza with Feta cheese and tomatoes like Kosmos.

Pizza is easy to make at home. Check out https://www.pizzamaking.com/
Everything you could ever want to know about making pizza at home. And I make a decent one NY Style.

True dat.

Villa Bella is good, but ridiculously overpriced.

If you're not too snooty for a chain, Bertucci's in Herndon is very good as well.

Domino's / Pizza Slut / Papa John's / Vocelli's pizza is borderline inedible.

They come through when you are throwing a party for high schoolers or college kids and you have to feed lots of people. They also come though when you have to feed lots children attending a sleepover or slumber party.

Mamma Lucia at Fair City Mall, as others have noted (I especially like their Sicilian pizza)

Another good one, though it's somewhat expensive, is Johnny's in the Manchester Lakes shopping center at the intersection of Beulah Street and Manchester Boulevard/Franconia-Springfield Parkway a few doors to the left of the Roy Rogers. I like their Sicilian as well, though not as much as the one from Mamma Lucia.

Luciano's at Tysons Corner Center is decent.

To address a different issue, Generous George's on Duke Street has been gone for several years, though a franchised location lives on somewhere in Herndon. The old location on Duke Street, which has been vacant since 2009, has a sign up saying another pizza joint called "Yates Pizzeria" is to open soon, though when I drove past there the Tuesday before Thanksgiving there was no indication when "soon" might be.

I loved Hector's as a kid, then Giacamo's in Loehmann's Plaza. Flippin' Pizza is pretty close to the old New York style places, Paisano's isn't half bad either. As far as the big chains go, Pizza Hut is the only one I can eat. Don't much care for Domino's and fuck Papa John's, I'd rather buy a Tombstone than eat Papa John's.
