Publix is all there is in south Florida. Nothing special about a Publix. Kinda pricey down there.

Publix is no Wegman's, but it beats Giant, Safeway, and Hairless Tweeter pretty handily in my (admittedly limited, while traveling) experience.

I'm not sure a ghetto like Woodbridge can keep a Publix in business.

Woodbridge seems more like a Food Lion or Bottom Dollar area to me.

Celebrating Publix coming to NOVA is like celebrating Food Lion coming back. Nothing exciting about Publix.

Except for Winn-Dixie, Piggly Wiggly, and all the independents.

They all sell exactly the same things at the highest prices they think their local markets can bear. Pretending that one chain is a 2005 Pétrus Pomerol while another is a Pagan Pink Ripple is simply to engage in silliness.

Keep your day job. You may be able to save up enough to afford to live in Woodbridge one day. Could take a while, but keep plugging away at it.

As soon as someone starts putting you up there. If you actually lived in Great Falls, you'd know the value of being multilingual just so you could converse with the help. You lose, asshole. Once again, keep your day job. You might make it to Woodbridge yet.

I only hire people fluent in English. Sorry you lose again. One more whiff and youre on the bench.

Incidently, is Ebonics part of what you refer to as multilingual?

PS- vous êtes un trou du cul

Sorry, not the case that they all sell exactly the same things. I wish they did -- it would save us a lot of time shopping multiple stores to get the things we want. Trivial example: Wegman's doesn't carry the Arnold bread we like. They have others in the same line, just not the one we want. So we either eat bread we don't really like, or make two trips. And on and on...

As for "at the highest prices they think their local markets can bear" -- thank you for explaining capitalism. Um, duh?

It is pronounced "Pubelicks"? Hoe fresh is their produce and are their melons ripe?

God, you're a fucking dumb shit!

Try again, bozo. A state-run enterprise would behave the same way. The point that you completely missed here is that trying to differentiate one major grocery chain from another is an effort for fools. You would apparently be one of those.

Hmmm. Everybody down there just stays away from Giant, Wegman's, and SFW? Let's put it this way -- you're stupid!

A county of one million people might have room for one more purveyor of comestibles. There are a lot of gradations to the marketplace around here, or it wouldn't be possible to keep Safeway, Shopper's Food Warehouse, Giant, Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Wegman's, Lotte, H Mart, Great Wall, Trader Joe's, Aldi, Sam's Club, the German Gourmet, 7-11, an infinite variety of combinations of Latino, Market, Halal, Indian, etc, etc. A million people gotta eat 3 meals a day, plus the occasional visit to Tippy's. Publix might do just fine. The market knows best.

The population of Prince William County (you know, where Woodbridge is?) is less than half a million. Maybe half a Publix would work? Dumb fuck.

Super Dumb Shit--Hi! Thanks for the clarification. Woodbridge is indeed in PWC, just a short drive over the Occoquan from Heaven-On-Earth Fairfax County, the Jewel In The Crown of the Universe. I stand corrected. Would you concede, Mr. Super Dumb Shit, that the regional disposable income that is divided among umpteen-thousand supermarkets of all types, descriptions, target audience, SMSA, blah-blah-blah, includes the dollars available in neighboring Prince William as well as Fairfax County and environs, on the plausible contention that people drive back and forth over the Occoquan every day, and might find it convenient to pick up a kiwi, gelato or frozen burrito, a pack of Depends, some ground chuck, a jar of green salsa, on the other side of the county line, as long as they were at, for example, Potomac Mills? Does that seem like something that could happen, maybe?
