Whats the point of Fairfax Circle?

It's not really a roundabout. It's just a traffic signal where you have to go in a circle for no reason. So then why didn't they just make it a normal traffic signal?

There are no left turn lanes off either Route-50 or Route-29. You have to move right in order to turn left. New Jersey (as one example) typically handles major intersections in this manner. Further, there was right turn on yield at the circle before there was right turn on red anywhere.

It was a roundabout at one time, but traffic got too heavy.

Like back in the late 50's when it was a roundabout and had a hill. It seved a good purpose when the FXCO PD chased a car of armed gas station robbers from out Rt 29 to Rt 50 heading back to DC. The robbers slammed into that hill at 90 per making some goodguy coppers day and saving the taxpayers of Virginia some money too.

Thanks for that, none points. I'd say you had a good point there, but I'd hate to offend.

It was originally built that way so drivers had an easier way to browse the selection of prostitutes.

Except for the center point. It's always there, plotted or not.

I can stop my car at the light, run out, and throw a load in the dryer at the laundromat waiting for the light to change. No problem.

All you dummies that responded - ha ha ha. You all would be confused if someone told you to go sit in the corner of a round room.

What's the "point" of Fairfax Circle? There is no point to a circle because there are no angles. I win I win!!!!!!!!!!
