REDSKIN'S OFF SEASON TO-DO LIST,,,FREE AGENCY / DRAFT
Posted by: Hatemotor ()
Date: November 16, 2014 09:26PM

Since the Redskins don't have a GM feel free to pretend it's your job,,,

What would you do?

Here's my to do list,,,

1) Fire Haslet,,,just out of the principle of the thing.

Seriously, he's not getting the defense back. It's over. The players want him gone or they would play harder and smarter.

Don't think so? You think you'd see this type of effort if Rex Ryan was coaching the Defense?

Of course not.

Pretty sure I would take out a contract on the owner and once he's gone maybe his wife could do a better job.

Seriously, nothing will change with this team until Snyder is gone. The past 15 years has been nothing more than rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

2) Hire Rex Ryan,,,I don't care what it cost, spend some money on something that makes a differnce.

I know what your thinking,,,why Would Rex Ryan come here?

You offer him the Head Coaching job if/when Gruden gets fired. Put it in his contract.

I know what your thinking,,,why Would Rex Ryan come here? Ok that may not be enough, but he loves attention and he'll get it here.

Bruce Allen
President/General Manager

I would stick with what is curently in place. The QB needs to stay healthy and grow up. A little consistency under the center and back to back wins will change the entire outlook.....

3)Trade Griffin,,,,No one will give up anything for him right?

Sure they will. Coaches always think they can fix young players. It was someone else's fault, not his. Just ask him, he'll tell you all the problems and none of them are him.

GM's may give it a whirl just because of his contract status. He's cheap. And if he doesn't perform you can jettison him.

The Redskins are going to have a high #1 this year. If there is a QB there, they may need to take him. Can't even think about it if Griffins here.

Drafting a brand new shiny QB will be a popular decision.

4) Draft a brand new shiny QB,,, assuming ones available. Jamis Winston is a huge risk, but he is clearly a better QB prospect than Griffin.

Brett Hundley may be a good option in Gruden's offense. I'll take him just to see.

And I'll let him hold the clipboard for the season if I can get decent play out of Cousins/ Mc Coy.

Ok, I'll settle for semi decent and get him ready by the bye week.

3/4) Option 2,,,Trade Griffin for Jay Cutler

The old "We'll trade you our problem for yours"

The Bears gave up some #1's, the Redskins gave up some #1's,,,what the hell.

Still think Cutler is a better option in Gruden's offense. A temporary option, but still better.

Use the #1 pick on a blue chip lineman. As high as Washington will be drafting, that should be possible.

5) Hire a REAL GM!,,,,Easier said than done, but any GM would be better (in theory) than no GM.

Unless that GM is Vinny Cerato,,,

6) Stop using the "lack of talent" excuse,,,Seriously. There is enough talent here to win more than 3 games a year.

The local media, who know NOTHING; constantly use this crap excuse to let the team off the hook. Coach up the players better. Use them in a way that complements their skill sets. That's what good teams do.

The Patriot teams that went to Super Bowls looked terrible on paper. They converted two receivers to play corner one year!

The Cardinals and Eagles are two great examples of teams coached to win.

7) Burn down Fed EX field,,,that ones just wishful thinking

But seriously, feel free to play with matches if your in the stands.

A new location in D.C. would be the best option, but it looks like that would require a name change.

If Washington is the place the stadium is built, I say just drop the nickname and change it to ,,,,nothing.

Just call the team Washington. And keep the uniforms and logo.

Both sides win.

8) Image makeover,,,,Why would anyone, esp fans think there's anything different here?

As mentioned above, what's good for the team is good for PR.

And don't say get rid of the owner,,,it's not happening.

New QB, so we can stop the whining about all the draft picks and move on.

New attitude from the coaches. Gruden and Rex, now that's some attitude. No more politically correct coaches and "coach speak"

New Stadium

New No Name,,, Just Washington bitches,,,F U

That is what makes the problem so compelling. If you had an owner who was not a meddler the answers would be more conservative or practical,,,

However, Dan will spend money if he thinks it will help. It just hasn't yet.

The combination makes for interesting (frustrating) scenarios,,,

That and the fact he has little patience.

Anyone who believes he won't eventually kick Griffin to the curb hasn't been paying attention,,,,

Here's my plan. I am assuming changing the owner is not an option.

Start Over.

1) Change the name
2) Fire Gruden (and maybe Allen)
2a) Hire a proven NFL winner for a coach and give him control
3) move on from RGIII (I know it's painful with all those picks we gave up for him but it's going to happen inevitably - lets suck it up and do it now. He's not capable of being a quality NFL QB both in terms of his physical ability or his leadership qualities and intangibles.)
4) Draft the best QB you can find and pick-up a decent back up (like Cleveland did with Hoyer or Houston did with Mallett)
5) Rebuild starting with the O-Line and D-line. Forget "skill" positions until you have a strong O&D line.
6) Build using young guys not free agents.
7) Get rid of selfish underachievers like Orakpo
7) Trade whatever talent you have for picks
8) commit to a 3-5 plan and stick with it

1. Change the name - its bad Juju
2. Bench RG. Dont trade him, bench him. I suspect his ego might drive him to actually work for a living. And by work I mean listen to the coaches and execute. He plays like his brain is shut off. Seriously wake up RG, read defenses and know the routes - you look like an ass out there on Sundays.
3. Focus on a monster tight end and O line.
4. Never ever run the RGIII read option with RG again. Never. Its a crutch and everyone in the world has figured out how to beat all the configurations customized for RGME.
5. Start over at GM. Its someone you can fire that deserves it based on the years of finishing LAST.
6. Change the name - out of respect for the Redskins players and coaches of the past stop branding their legacy with utter crap. Snyder is almost done destroying the brand anyway...

1. Stop ignoring the damn O-line - the o-line has been garbage for the better part of a decade. NOTHING changes until this is fixed.

2. Fire the DC and all his assistants - he should have been replaced when Gruden took over. New head coach should equal clean slate. WTF were you thinking?

3. Be active EARLY in free agency - this season they sat on their hands while all of the good players signed elsewhere. Then they scooped up the leftovers at discount prices. How did that work out for you?

4. Stop pissing away $$ on the offensive skill positions - it doesn't matter how good your WR's are if you have no pass protection.

5. Gut the secondary - need to replace BOTH starting safeties and at least starting CB. Two if Breeland doesn't pan out.

There's tons more things but this would be a good start.

Snyder has successfully done a Six Flags and Johnny Rockets to this team. On the plus side, nobody showing up to games or buying their shit is what it will take to affect change. Snyder and the other investors need to start losing money. Once that happens, an ownership change may finally take place.

Well we have a complete jackass in charge, Daniel Snyder. That's why no sane coach will ever come here except to cash in. I believe if Gruden gets fired tomorrow, he still gets to back his armored car up to the door at Redskins Park and drive away with about $25mil.

Simple, because Dan Snyder gave up a lot for RGIII to play and they are friends. It happens all the time with Snyder.

Look at the games thus far. 3 wins with backup QB's. 0 wins with RG3. Look at the points scored. With RG3 in the game you get scores like 6 and 7, With Kirk Cousins they were putting up 41 and 34 points.

The only guess is that Dan Snyder has figured out a way to make money from losing.

He most certainly has because he has found a city and region chock full of losers. I laugh at the people who paid to go to that game Sunday. They started booing before the 1st quarter was over. Who else would take the time and effort to go to FedEx and subject yourself to that punishment except certified losers?

Looks like Gruden is sticking with Griffin for another week,,,

Bad decision.

The best thing you can do for him is have him sit and watch. It will increase his trade value if nothing else.

Say what you want about Kirk, his mechanics are good, he gets the ball out and MOVES THE OFFENSE.

AND SCORES POINTS. It's his decision making that gets him in trouble but at least he throws the ball.

If you put Colt in, you can watch a guy that plays with heart. He has limited physical skills but he makes the most of them.

One of those two will be this teams back-up in the future. Find out which one it is.

Really, if Washington completely focused on the lines with the draft and just used Kirk or Colt as a place holder for a future QB, that would probably still be a 7 or 8 win team.

Which is better than being a 3 win team trying to get blood out of a turnip.

Hate to say it but Griffin suddenly looks like a college option QB who can run but has minimal passing ability.

Everything the Skins do seems wrong. The analysis on RG3's talent appears another example.

Sadly Colt and Kirk could not possibly be considered viable starters for the future so it is Griffin until a new guy can be drafted.

So another Sunday of Suck,,,

As much as I like Colt and his abilities, his arm is woefully inadequate

I want to believe the Redskins could win with Colt but we have the players for a big play type offense and he is just not that type of QB. He would be a great backup, and he may very well be the best option the team has now, but you cannot pencil him in for the future and have any real chance of making the playoffs

But let's go back to #1 on the list,,,,

FIRE HASLET

THE PLAYERS ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT RESPONDING TO HIM ANYMORE

STEP ONE - HIRE REX RYAN

You are exactly right Hopeless,,,

Truth be told that is the reason most of the items on my list will not be accomplished

The reality is Rex Ryan is not jumping out of one dumpster fire into another dumpster on fire. More than likely he's going to TV.

There is little chance of getting a true GM

There is little chance the draft will be handled correctly

There is little chance there will be a trade for RGIII

There is little chance of an image makeover (not a good one anyway)

There is little chance of a new stadium

Probably the only items that will happen are firing Haslet and dumping Orakpo and even those are not guaranteed

^^This.

Using the Cardinals as an example, Bill Bidwell's meddling was a big factor in the Cards failures in Tempe. Putting his mean-ass son in charge, plus the new stadium helped the team quite a bit. They couldn't get 30K fans in Sun Devil stadium but now consistently sell out home games.

Bill Bidwell is football dumb, but smart enough to step away.

There is no improving with Snyder as the owner. How many coaches have been here? How many worthless players has the little prick signed? How many stupid decisions like drafting RG3 for all those draft picks has the little douche stuck you Redskins fans with? You cannot build a team with that much chaos and stupid decision making on the part of a dumb ass who thinks he can run a football team. The winning franchises are stable and draft with a plan for the coach's systems, not grabasstic, skatershot, like this team.

Here is what you Skins fans should do-- get a brother to bang Snyder's blond wife and have a video camera handy. When he walks in and starts with racially slurred rants, you have him-- the NFL will make him sell the team a la Donald Sterling...

That is your only hope.

Funny happenings in Skinsland this week!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2014/12/05/ticket-prices-for-redskins-rams-game-plummet-to-as-low-as-3/

"According to SeatGeek — a site that tracks ticket sales to sporting events and concerts — the Redskins’ tickets are selling on the secondary market for as little as $4 apiece, with the standing-room-only tickets listed for as little as $3."

Still a ripoff!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2014/12/05/the-redskins-advertised-tickets-to-the-rams-game-on-facebook-it-didnt-go-well/

The Redskins have a home game on Sunday. As typically happens a few days before a Redskins home game, the team announced that it has “a limited number of single-game seats” available, due to “ticket returns from the visiting team.” At full price, naturally. And so the team posted a notice about these tickets on Facebook Thursday night.

Now, this is nothing new, not to this game or this season. What is new is that Redskins-Rams ticket prices on the secondary market have plunged, and are now hovering around the cost of a sandwich.

And so fans reacted poorly to the Facebook notice of full-price box office tickets for sale. A sampling.

returns1214l.jpg

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2014/12/05/rgiiis-rise-and-fall-as-told-through-vanity-license-plates/

Matt Harding acquired his Robert Griffin III license plate four weeks into the quarterback’s rookie season. The response was everything you could hope for from a vanity license plate.

And since then?

“It’s been hell,” Harding said. “I get laughed at now, told I need to change my license plate again. It’s the polar opposite of what it was when I originally got it.”

Nothing more amusing than jackasses with their vanity plates feeling embarrassed. It's hard to think of something more well-deserved. :-)

We already knew this...........

Redskins Star
BLASTS RGIII
'No One Believes In Him Anymore'
12/6/2014 12:45 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Robert Griffin III is a spoiled diva who cares more about branding himself than winning ... so says a Washington Redskins player who tells us he's not the only one in the locker room who feels this way.

The player -- who spoke with us on the condition of anonymity -- says playing with RG3 has been a nightmare this season ... and the locker room has lost faith in the QB.

"No one is happy ... no one gets the hype around him anymore."

As bad as Griffin's play on the field has been this year, our guy tells us it's actually RG3's off-the-field demeanor that ticks off his fellow players the most.

"He's secluded and it affects us in the game. We don't have that real rapport. He's lost confidence and is complacent now."

There's more ... Griffin's mediocre season has made some of his teammates skeptical of not just his future with the Redskins ... but in the league period.

"I don't see him being in the NFL for that long," we're told ... "I think he goes into politics. He's good at that kinda thing."

Now I guess the next big decision is whether or not to keep Gruden

I'm sticking to my original list, get rid of Haslet but keep Gruden.

You have to keep Gruden until you get a team built at least. Built through the draft and YOUNG free agents.

O-line, D-line

If you can play defense and at least run the ball you may be able to put together a few 8-8 seasons and get out of the cellar,,,

This ^^

Also the secondary. The Redskins haven't had a decent safety since Sean Taylor died.

If D.Hall heals up, he may be able to play some safety

Finding a good one in the draft may be tough, finding two is unlikely

Definitely should be a top priority, I just don't want to see the team overpay and end with the player hurt and killing the cap ala Jarius Byrd,,,

Charley Casserly was the name mentioned for this, and I could agree with that,,,

Definitely
And a proven qb coach. No salary cap for coaches
RG3 and Cousins did a lot worse this year. With them both falling off, it can't be because they both suck.
Get rid of the complainers. Maybe RG has lost confidence. But you take the complaining about him to the coaches. Not to the press. Team harmony is almost as important as the talent

"Are you suggesting that the DC Area Sports Curse is responsible?"

Kyle Shanahan will be one of the hottest coaching candidates this off-season and he was here.

How many front office types went from here to success with other franchises?

Plenty

It's not a curse, the smart ones get out of here or just aren't promoted because of the "good ole boy" network with the owner. The ass kissers that hang around for year after year are losers.

I'm looking at you Bruce Allen,,,

Agreed. And the DC Area Sports Curse is the only logical explanation. The persistent sucktitude isn't specific to the Redskins -- it affects teams throughout the DC area.

BREAK BREAK BREAK

News and notes for December 17th!

--- Redskins Fans in Dismay ---

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2014/12/17/redskins-fan-angst-spreads-to-clown-costumes-bar-funerals-and-christmas-displays/

“We can’t even give tickets away; the apathy is that terrible,” Kott told me. “A few people we thought we’d be able to get to go the game are saying yeah, we’re not going to waste our day.”

--- RG3 Still Confident!!! ---

Despite a continuation of certain struggles, he maintains his confidence still is high. “Oh, I’m in a great place,” Griffin said, when asked about his mental state.

--- RG3 = Drama Queen ---

"He takes sacks, he makes bad decisions. But then when he gets hit, he lays there like he’s shot. I called him a drama king on the air yesterday because you’d think he’s never getting up again and then he bounces right back up. It’s almost like, ‘Everybody look at me, I’m hurt.’ It’s like he’s a martyr or something."

Apparently Washington will have a new GM in 2015, and he is already on the payroll.

I think it's good choice.

There is no way this guy is afraid of Dan Snyder or anyone else that would get in the way of building a successful franchise.

#1 remains unchanged, FIRE HASLETT.

#2 We're not getting Rex Ryan, maybe Ron Rivera?

#3 Trade Griffin for Cutler(?)That might work for a couple of years,,,

#4 Trade down for more picks if Landon Collins (Safety-Alabama) isn't there,,,

#5 The thread was renamed for a reason, I'm considering this one checked off,,,

#6 Unchanged-Stop using the "lack of talent" excuse,,,

#7 Unchanged-Burn down Fed EX field,Burn it to the ground,,,

#8 Unchanged-Image makeover,,,not smash mouth, SMASH FACE FOOTBALL

#9 Unchanged-Get rid of Orakpo ,,,Can't afford to pay basic players epic money

#10 Unchanged-BAN TWITTER AND ALL OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA ,,,

Tough decisions, I have no idea how to work the salary cap and all that shit..

Obviously we need pass protection and a stronger secondary.

I'd run with Griffin again, maybe deal Cousins.

I heard Garcon may be gone next year, I'd like to keep him and Jackson.

Keep the kickers.

I did not like what Jay Gruden had to say at his press conference yesterday.Sounds like he plans on doing the same exact thing next year and expects different results.

I'm sure Bruce Allen's will be a real fountain of information tomorrow.

One thing is certain; they don't get it.

And by "IT", I mean anything,

I fully expect them to go right back down the same road next year.

No real changes, No GM, no coaches out on their asses,,,

NOTHING.

A couple of big free agent signings, some "we gotta do better"s, some "we're focused on the future", some "it hurts to lose",,,

Bullshit.

More bullshit.

The main reason the Redskins will not change their name, is that it would give too many fans closure and allow them to move on to another franchise,,,

If you are going to be grammar Nazis, you might want to start with "Redskins'" instead of "Redskin's." The name of the team isn't the Washington Redskin.

That said, it sounds like they are keeping Allen, Gruden AND RGIII. After five years of failure, how can anyone justify Allen keeping his job?

Thank you, the very true Redskins fans.

In keeping with the way I have run the team since I have bought it, I made a high-profile off-season hire, in an effort to keep people interested. Never mind I hired an alocholic who admits he continues to drink.

I have guaranteed ticket sales for another season. Not only that, I get free advertising from three TV networks, and who knows how many radio prgrams (I know 106.7 devotes their entie lineup to me for 3 soild days during the week, inclduing the Sports losers, and Chad fat-loser).

I can do no wrong in this town. Call me all the names you wanr, but I am still a billionaire, and I own the team you worship. Even if I do wrong, you will continue to worship my team.

Never say never, Hatemotor. Bill Bidwell ran the Cards a lot like Snyder but finally gave it up, and they at least make it to the playoffs now. Could happen here too - IF Danny quits meddling. We'll see.

On the plus side, Danny has another person to drink scotch with while the team goes down the crapper.

Still a waitlist for season tickets, except for premium seating.

Hard to believe. Just like the braindead zombies who still worship Obama.

And they're ever so confident, year in and year out. That's the best part. :-)

Dane Bramage is the classic Skins fan. He's a born loser in every way. Him and the Redskins go together like peanut butter and jelly.

LOL. So there's still a waitlist for season tickets, except for the ones that there aren't a waitlist for. Thanks for clearing that up.

Reducing the capacity of the stadium by over 10,000 seats also helps! Lots of teams doing that sort of thing nowadays. :-)

So there are reports that Washington will hire Joe Barry as Defensive Coordinator,,,

It took all of a week for the Redskins to make a WTF!!! move.

Now that Vic Fangio is available I would hope this is an inaccurate report

But Barry worked in TAMPA BAY so it's probably true.

His only claim to fame is being the DC of the 0-16 Lions

He worked UNDER Raheem Morris in Tampa Bay, why not just hire Raheem?

Apparently they want to make the fans regret calling for Haslet to be fired,,,

So here we have the list of unrestricted free agents for the Redskins

Brian Orakpo, OLB
Tyler Polumbus, OT
Roy Helu, RB
Jarvis Jenkins, DE
Brandon Meriweather, S
Leonard Hankerson, WR
Niles Paul, TE
Santana Moss, WR
Colt McCoy, QB
Ryan Clark, S
E.J. Biggers, CB
Tanard Jackson, S

Not one single player on this list I'm really worried about losing

It would be nice to re-sign Jenkins,Meriweather, Helu and possibly Paul but no big loss if every single one pounds sand,,,
