Thats why the one in Springfield at Ravensworth is being replaced by Lotte - a fine 3rd world fish and rice bulk store. Enjoy the stench of your new shopping experience all thanks to Safeway for being unable to run a grocery chain.

Safeway was sold to Cerberus Capital Management earlier this year..

Sucking is predicted for at least the short term.

...are WAY better than the Safeway on 236 in Annandale. Rudest employees. All the shopping carts in the parking lots, not in the store. Never enough baskets. Employees smoking outside or on their cell phones iznside the store. No plastic bags for produce (empty rolls). Expired foods everywhere. Last week's sale tags still up, so you end up getting screwed at checkout. Checkout employees rudest of all. Don't know produce codes, bakery codes. 10 people wairing in 2 open lines, ALWAYS. Never enough checkers. Ugh.

I'd be willing to guess that if you are a typical Safeway customer, you are the reason they suck. I can't even decipher what they fuck you're trying to say. I'd venture further in saying this could be an OFF TOPIC post.

The Safeway on Anderson Street in McLean/Pimmit Hills is probably the best one around that I have found.

Also the Chesterbrook Safeway is a dumpy store, but EVERYTHING is always on sale and it is NEVER busy.

The International Safeway in McLean is a nightmare for many reasons, good luck ever getting out of the check out lines.

Giant is not my favorite either, too expensive and just do not like it but deal with it.

Lately I am finding Target is a very good and reasonable grocery store option along with Amazon for non perishables.

Haters gotta hate. Gotta find something. For now, I guess it's Safeway, but probably they'll be back to Tysons, the Silver Line, FCPS, people who are not white, Comcast, roads, traffic, taxes and other such targets soon enough.

So move to the Mosaic District. Very close to Target and also just a stone's throw from the new county mental health services facility that you'll be needing to visit just about as often.

So why should I move and why should I need to go to the county mental health services?

Target is far cheaper than almost ever grocery store in the area.

Everything at Giant is $3.99 at a minimum, this appears the minimum price of anything.

Walmart is also not so bad for groceries, however, their fresh produce does not usually cut it. Walmart is open 24 hours so I can go when ever I choose.

I predict that Target is already impacting the local grocery stores. Giant is so screwed up and ass backwards they cannot even search their inventory to find product that should be in the store of find them at other local stores.

For grocery stores that inventory control and freshness is important, scary how ass backwards they are regarding technology.

I can call Target, Costco, Best Buy, Radio Shack or even Home Depot and inquire about a specific product and in store stock can be checked (does not mean it is accurate or the item can be found, but at least this can be done!) but Giant does not have this ability! Most of the better retail stores can also track faster moving items so they can increase shelf stock if needed. They should be able to track when a customer even regularly purchases multiples of specific items.

Sad to say, but in a way if Giant or Safeway cannot get their act together, then they deserve to fade into the background.

Then you would logically wish to live near a Target. Solution: Mosaic District

Then you will obviously need regular mental health care. Solution: Mosaic District

Mosaic District has nothing to offer anyone other than a bunch of retail store and condos with way too many low lifers living on top of each other.

I shop everywhere from 7 Corners aka Siete Corners, Moisac, Reston, Fairfax Corner, Sterling and Chantilly depending on where I need to go. I have no problem traveling as needed so I do not have to live in a god forsaken mess like Mosaic District.

So if you want to live in the Mosaic District you can take my spot, nothing there for me.

I only go to Safeway if I have to. I have never stood in a line there that didn't take less than ten minutes to get through. They NEVER have enough checkouts open. Ever. Plus, their non-sale items are expensive as hell.

We used to go to Giant, but they started running out of some items and taking forever to restock. The Safeway down in Belle View had a big remodeling, so we went there for a while, until they started running out of some items and taking forever to restock, in addition to the theft-prevention carts that would sometimes lock up when you went to leave the store, requiring intervention from an employee. Also, they never figured out how to do lottery tickets.

So, we started going back to Giant, for lack of any other close by alternatives.

Can't afford it, eh? No biggie. A lot of people can't. So they miss out on the Target and easy access to mental health care. Also on the really nice apartments and townhouses, the MOM's Grocery, the butcher, the fish store, the baker, the tea shop, the wine shop, the theater, the fitness center, the fine restaurants, all those boutiques, the tennis dome, and so much much more.

The BIG Safeway at the Pan-Am shopping center on Nutley St. and Rt.29 (Lee Highway) just east of Fairfax Circle is superb. I don't think you will find any problems there. But, I agree....that store is a LOT better than some of the other local Safeways.

Hey Dunce, I could actually afford a handful of a places a Mosiac, get this, I could probably afford an entire floor on any one of the places.

Not worried about the cost of fuel, it is chump change for me and I usually hit about 5-6 places when I shop all in the same area.

Hey can you help me out with the Mental Health Care Facility in the Mosaic District, I must have missed it, I want to get you a years membership!

You're a stooge who doesn't know how to manage what little money you actually have. Blowing it all out the back end of your tailpipe is obviously stupid. So are you.

It's not a club, and NEAR is a different word from IN. Too fucking stupid by light-years. Doofus, by the way, is a downgrade from dunce.

Superb? It's certainly a nice enough store, but unless you eat mostly puffed wheat and ramen noodles, you may well find yourself shopping at other stores, including other Safeways.

The Pan Am Safeway is pretty nice, the deli and bakery are pretty good there.

After getting groceries I always fill up at the Safeway gas station, I usually get .20 - .30 per gallon off.

Beats any Giant, Shoppers, or Korean store IMO. The only better store is Wegmans.

I go every Saturday to get a week's worth of groceries at the one on West Ox Road by Fair Oaks. They never have enough check stands open. Usually it's only two open, and one of them is express, so I can't even use it. Lines are long and it takes forever. Meanwhile, right down route 50 the Harris Teeter is smaller, has less customers, but usually has 5 or 6 check stands open. Get it together Safeway.

A big part of the problem is the elimination of smaller, neighborhood stores in favor of huge stores that can't orovide enogh customer service to serve their patrons.

I say, refuse to shop at the huge stores! Only shop at the smaller ones. Let the capitalist system work!

Both Safeway and Giant are owned and operated by foreign country businesses.
Anyone buying anything at these stores including Starbucks is an anti pariotic BITCHASS!
Boycotting is the U.S. of A. way to shut 'em down!
Both all three businesses mentioned above are and have been for too many years over charging for everything and anything in their stores.
EVERYONE should be boycotting them out of existence!
Wegman's is way outpriced as well. Owned by an Isreali Jewish family.
(And they are providing FREE HOMES to all settling Jews in Israel.)

Wegman's is nice if you happen to live in or near Woodbridge, Fairfax, or Sterling and don't have to shop on Saturdays. The rest of area humanity may want to pick a different outlet to shop at.
