Police are on the scene of a shooting death near Woodbridge High School in Lake Ridge.
It happened about 4:30 p.m. on Oakwood Drive on a path at runs between the residential street and Woodbridge High School.
Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok said the victim is a male, but he does not yet know his age. Police are also still gathering details about the shooter or shooters, but no arrests had been made as of 5:15 p.m.
A police command post is set up in the parking lot of Woodbridge High School on Old Bridge Road and police presence in the area is heavy.
Residents in the area reported hearing what they thought were fireworks or an explosion just before the shooting call went out.

I live near this kid's family and I can tell you that the situation is absolutely sad and tragic. I feel for his parents and for his friends. I wish Brenden had not gone down the path he did, selling drugs and such. It is such a dangerous game, and the allure of the money is very hard to resist for teenagers. We witnessed these drug deals multiple times and tried to get police intervention to stop it, however they were never able to catch him in the act. Regardless of his choices, the kid was only 16 and this should not have happened. Lots of prayers for his family.

This happened right next to the HS.
Woodbridge High School is actually in the Lake Ridge area... and with the exception of a few specific streets in a few specific neighborhoods, Lake Ridge is pretty safe, pretty white, and nothing like the route 1 part of Woodbridge (the part everyone thinks of when they hear Woodbridge). Lake Ridge is no less safe than Burke, Springfield, Fairfax City, or most other places. For this particular area, it's not usual. People would expect it more if it were down on Rte 1, Dumfries, Manassas, or Dale City.

That's kind of funny. When I was in school, a 6'2" 200+ lb 16 year old was usually the one being the bully.

Not trying to be a snob... just making the point that Lake Ridge is not nearly as dangerous as the older part of Woodbridge. If you disagree, you haven't spent much time in PWC.

I'm Brenden Wilson's Mom. It's been 3 years since my son was murdered most of you probably don't care about the outcome. I accidentally stumbled on this article today. I'm not going to explain to the people that hide behind their keyboards with fake names as they judge my son. I would like give an update on Brenden's case & how the Commonwealth threw my son's case out like a piece of trash in exchange for information. Their is a twist to Brenden's case not many know about.
