Fairfax Circle Home Depot
Posted by: Picasso ()

I purchased some taupe paint at Home Depot at Fairfax Circle. Upon putting it on the wall (the can had been purchased and shaken 20 minutes earlier at the store), it turned out to be a bluish gray.

The manager (Teresa Cadima) at the store (Home Depot at Fairfax Circle, VA) refused to refund my money, even though the paint clearly looked nothing like the color in the brochure (per photo).

I ended up calling the police, who were able to mediate, and obtain a refund, but they suggested in the future that I should try small claims court.

Court seems like a good way to go - get Home Depot involved and haul them into court over $50 of paint that was mixed wrong. Expose how their managers treat customers, and hold them accountable. I regret getting the police involved, and wish I had just gone to court. I'd love to watch the store being served a summons.

Any time you purchase paint, pop the top of the can and smear a finger's worth around on the lid. If it's not what you want, don't buy it. If the paint seems different when you apply it to a wall, the wall may not have been cleaned properly, or you may have needed to apply a coat of primer first.

In most cases, small claims court orders are not enforced bay anyone. You can win the case, but get nothing anyway.

posting skills, I'd say you're fucked. And fucking clueless.

Hire a painter and shut the fuck up.

And yes, you're butthurt.

First of all who would get police involved over a can of paint? Also, every time I get paint there the paint person does whats mentioned above...smears a dab on the lid and dries it.

Sounds like BS to me.

You should always test a small swatch on the color chip before leaving the store.

Definitely you should not use the gallon and expect a refund. Where do you get off?

Just KIDDING!

The paint store clerk should always double check the mixed paint before telling you it is ready.

Remember though that the people at home depot are human and do make mistakes sometimes.

I personally am very impressed with the service I receive at the Merrifield location and would recommend it to anyone.

Sorry you suffered the hassle and have to repaint the room probably, but I do recommend highly to stick with Behr paint. That shit requires a lot of rolling to lay it out properly with no wrinkles or sags, but gives a very high quality finish that would cost double and even triple with paint store name brands.

Put a fresh skim of Vagisil on the next time you feel your bitchassidness creeping up on you. Cops are too busy stealing money and shooting innocent people to worry about the vag who is buthert because they had buyer's remorse.

Your own fault. You can buy a small sample can of any color you want for under $5.00 to test it out in your home.

Oh, and you probably should not refer to a color as "taupe" unless you know which of the many variations of taupe you mean.

Who the hell calls the police over a can of paint? Who goes to small claims court over something so trivial?

There are a million variations of the color 'taupe'. Plus paint can look very different on a paint strip and on the wall. Add in lighting conditions, surface prep, and other factors and you can wind up with something completely unexpected. This is why you buy tester cans.

This is either a very good troll, or a complete wackjob.

troll thread.

1. ever notice how when you buy the paint the dab a bit on the lid and use a hair dryer for 2 min. to dry it while you stand there watching them? Ever wonder why they do that?

2. buying paint from Home Depot is not a very good idea as Bher paints are terrible. I dont care what Consumer Reports says the paint sucks. So do all the other brands they sell. Go to Ben Moore and pay the $40+ per gal. You will get good service from experts and the paint is fantastic. Paint is the cheapest part of a paint job. Its the labor and prep that costs the most. Good paint will save you lots of time. With that Bher crap a pro painter would be lucky to get an average result.

Any facts to base your statement on? Too much talc in the mixture, not enough solvent, etc.? Comes off on a sponge after curing?

Consumer Reports consistently rates Behr paint very highly.

I like Ben Moore, not so much Sherwin Williams, for special jobs. But for daily indoor painting, Behr is my first choice.

I agree with Hiring a painter, Homer could have told you, the chip is on paper, not the same type thats on Drywall or previous paint, also you have to let it dry a day or so, when wet its not the same color as when it dries, finally go 2 shades darker or lighter depending on your preference, finally they dab the top of the can after mixing and shaking it.

HD's policy is clear and is posted right at the paint counter: NO REFUNDS ON CUSTOM MIXED PAINTS. It is also written on the tag on the top of the can.
