Ismail Elmas - Jail Bound!
Posted by: Shredloc Humes ()
Date: October 22, 2014 03:00PM

Fellow Citizens, remember when Ismail Elmas went missing over the summer? Now we know why he ran away. He is a criminal who stole between one and seven million dollars in his job as an investment adviser. Most of his victims were elderly retired folks. Washington Post has an article about this crook. Anybody know this guy and can share stories?

Nah, ripping off old people is strictly a Democrat kind of thing.

He lived right downthe street from me
Posted by: pmf ()
Date: October 23, 2014 11:14AM

Seemed like a normal guy. I'd see him walking his dog every morning. He bought the most expensive house in the development for something like $875k, and then balked when the second nicest house right across the street went for $50k less. He threatened to walk after the deal went through, and the sellers agreed to drop the price. If it were me, I'd of told him tough -- either walk and I keep your good faith money, or you pay the agreed upon $875k.

He only stayed for a year, maybe a year and a half before moving out. I heard he was having a house built somewhere in Vienna.

He struck me like everyone else in my development. The men seem to all work in Tysons doing jobs like financial planner, energy consultant, etc. They leave late and come home early, or they work from home. The women do nothing or maybe have some part time job that must pay a trivial salary. They all have people cleaning their houses and mowing their lawns. I think I'm the only guy who actually owns a lawn mower, goes into DC everyday to work (along with my wife). Whatever they all do, I sure missed the boat.

He's got some young kids and a wife. I feel sorry for them. What the guy did was pretty sleazy, but it's too bad the wife and kids will probably suffer as much as he did.

The problem with people like you is that you are always in political attack mode. Always. And in most instances you just end up looking ignorant of the facts. But don't let the facts get in your way.

Thats cause he hasn't been sentenced yet. Last I heard put off till late March. That can't be good, right? Federal prison yes thats what washington post said. He's been at home this whole time. Could get 20 years.

Anyone want to guess on how long his sentence will be?

He's had a nice long vacation at home with his family since July.

His finra report shows he's done some serious swindling before he got caught by the Feds so why would apple have kept him on after the very first serious violation? How did he have clients after such a costly mistake?

Thanks Jim--I will search again in March for his sentencing!

Having worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, I am of the opinion that Ish will get between 8 to 10 years. You are right that waiting until March to be sentenced does not bode well for him.

No doubt his wife will divorce him, especially if she is hot.

John, since you worked for FBP, thought I'd ask you a few things. Would the wife in this case have to pay for his legal bills? If so, if she divorces his sorry ass, does she not have to be on the hook for mounting legal bills? How would he pay for his defense if he can't work?

Jim--

I suppose, up to a point, the wife would be liable for the various bills along with Ish. When they exhaust their funds I think that they would declare bankruptcy. At that point, I assume, that he would be appointed a "public" defender.

While at BOP I was not involved in the legal process.

Is his house up for sale?? No doubt HIGHLY mortgaged in order to live the life of the rich and famous. How did that work out for them? NOT VERY WELL.

Legal bills for Ish and his wife would be to the moon and back!

John thanks for your information. They did own a house but sold it very quickly. Washington Post ran an article about the lengths they went to to move that house. Search his name and the paper and you'll find it and pictures too. Interesting becuse this was before he went missing. Sold that house and heard they never bought a house just renting. Wife's not hot. Not my type anyway.

Simply GOOGLE "Sentencing of Ismail Elmas, Alexandria, VA" At the bottom of the page you will find a link: myinforms.com

Presto, you will have all of the information.

Ish received 126 months in Federal Prison--2 years of supervised release--and restitution of $2.97 million.

I suspect that he will serve his time in North Carolina or in Alabama--most likely Alabama, as it will be more difficult for his family to visit him. If they wanted to.

John,
Thanks.I thought you might come around with an update. My Google skills have failed me because I followed your directions and went in circles.

Appreciate your insights. How come you are thinking Bama or NC? Heard through grapevine that it was between MD and Petersburg VA?

Also this case has me researching and reading. Understand it's easier for prisoner to turn himself in and self report rather than having BOP transport you in chains.

So where is Elmas? On way to jail now?

John one more question.

How do you pay 2.97 million in restitution? And when? After time served? Is this payment to his victims? Cause some of those folks were in their 80s and 90s.

When I was with the Bureau of Prisons YEARS ago, Ish with others, would be taken to Atlanta, GA (bu US Marshalls) for Processing/Classification and Medical evaluations for about a month and then, and only then sent to a facility to serve their sentance. Many, many white collar inmates are sent to a Federal Correctional Facility (FCI) at Talladego, Alabama or to Butner, NC.

I am sure that Ish and his wife have had ALL of their assets siezed and/or frozen some time ago and will be given to the insurance company of AFCU that covered the losses for the benefit of victims of Elmas.

Also, I believe that the IRS would sue Ish and his wife for the interest made on their ill gotton gains and for MOT reporting the interest gains on their tax returns.

Their defense cost would ne just HUGE!!! The effect of what they have done, and the assoxiated costs to them will BUILD AND BIULD.

No doubt Ish and Mrs. Ish are now totally backrupt, or they will soon be bankrupy!

I was surprised that Ish did not suicide before sentencing, Many criminals like Ish do that.

Well, in my humble opinion, the Elmas family opened themselves up to RIDICULE and being the collective BUTT of jokes because of the immoral, cruel and antisocial actions of a person named ISMAIL ELMAS!

This was not his first offense. Just check the FINRA Report. The real question for me is WHY DID APPLE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION hire him in the first place and why was there such a lack of supervision by upper management?

The lesson is to check the FINRA Report for all registered "advisors".

My plan of action is to close my accounts with AFCU and move them to another bank that I currently do business with and receive GREAT service and attention to detail.

even if these elderly victims are made whole by the credit union or insurance or whatever, its not immediate

i'll bet the elderly victims he scammed would love to be out relaxing and celebrating and drinking wine with friends

and yes to dude aboe you better check out your finanacial advisior or know who your parents deal with and check them out through finra

Attention every pussy ass bitch in this anonymous blog.

First of all, you are all illiterate, have never owned a map, and have probably never stepped foot outside of this god forsaken area, or someone would've punched you square in the face for your ignorance and lack of brainpower. Even if you were good people who didn't waste your time in meaningless places like a Fairfax Underground chat about a 5 year old incident, you would still be pathetic and worthless for the way you shit talk others just to create your own idea of a reality tv plot to keep your lives somewhat entertained when clearly they're depressing and worthless. If you ever decide to improve your lives, please do yourself a favor and do that anonymously too- because no one cares. Thanks :)

it’s pretty obvious that you’re all ignorant and have never interacted with this man or his family literally ever. It’s quite sad that you have nothing better to do but speculate about this guy’s place of origin and the outcome of his sentencing and jail time and I suggest that you find something better to do with your time. Also heard his daughter made the dean’s list at the number 3 public university in this country for every single semester that she’s been there, so she obviously doesn’t need her incarcerated father’s story to get her a free ride! Sad that you can’t even put your real names on this thread... almost like you’d be embarrassed if people found out you said this shit! Karma will come back to bite you all, enjoy!

This post in particular is to the woman who titled herself "Vienna Mom" on this chat.
Excuse me for profiling, but I would like to assume that if you have time to find your way to this site that you are an unemployed, stay at home mom with a wine problem. If I'm incorrect, you may find me and let me know! However, if I'm right, then I would hate to be your child. In fact, if I were I would be so embarrassed to have come out of your saggy vagina that I would probably have fled the country by now... maybe to Turkey, where Mr. Elmas is actually from you racist pieces of shit! Although if you truly are a middle aged woman who still thinks this toxically and shallowly, I'm sure my words haven't changed you. I would like for you to consider the lives of his children, and other children of incarcerated people who see dumb fucks like you raging on the internet under the label of a "mother" when really they are a pathetic waste of space who spends their God given life trying to make others' worse for your own twisted entertainment.

SEC Admin Release 34-84300; IA Release 40-5051, September 27, 2018.

The Division of Enforcement alleges that on October 21, 2014, Elmas pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1343 before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, in United States v. Ismail Elmas, No. 1:14-CR-00328 (E.D. Va.). By Judgment entered on March 20, 2015, the District Court sentenced Elmas to 126 months of incarceration and two years of supervised release and ordered him to pay criminal restitution in the amount of $2,976,180.03. The wire fraud count to which Elmas pleaded guilty alleged that, among other things, from at least 2012 through August 2014, Elmas misappropriated client funds for his personal use and misrepresented to clients that the funds were being used for legitimate investment purposes.
