McAuliffe announces budget cuts, layoffs to address revenue shortfall

RICHMOND — Gov. Terry McAuliffe unveiled a raft of cost-cutting measures Wednesday, including up to 565 layoffs, in response to a projected budget shortfall that he blamed mostly on reduced federal spending.

The steps are intended to partially address a previously announced multi-year deficit of $2.4 billion. In a news conference, McAuliffe (D) called the budget cuts “the most difficult part of my job so far” and said the situation could grow more dire.

In addition to job losses concentrated in the state prison system, the state will mark up the price of liquor, sell an old state police airplane and wait longer than usual to fill some jobs. Those actions will take effect immediately.

This is the same idiot who wants to expand budget outlays in the form of more Medicaid for the Free Shit Army. Do Democrats even stop to think once in a while?

A "revenue shortfall" translated to layman's terms means that McAuliffe is handing out too many payoffs to his cronies. Those illegal and fraudulent votes don't come cheap - now the bill has come due.

What that tells me is that McAuliffe has a pet project and it ain't Public Safety.

Medicaid expansion would be 100% paid for by the feds through 2020, and 90% thereafter. Savings from various current state programs that would be made redundant by expansion would be more than enough to cover the remaining 10%.

Don't understand federal finance, eh? There is no connection between federal receipts and outlays. Taxes do not change simply on account of the feds spending more money. 3rd graders know this. You do not.

Well, at least he's not borrowing against the teacher's pension fund in order to create a fictitious surplus.

Math is just one of the many things that I am much better than you at. Your an intellectual stumble-bum with no discernible skill at all. Federal payments to Virginia for Medicaid expansion would not affect your federal tax bill at all. Got that, goober?

Hey, dummy. What don't you understand? Federal money comes from the Federal coffers. That has nothing to do with Virginia taxpayers! Damn, you Conservatardz are stupid.

I love how this twink hunting libtard thinks $4.5 trillion of additional fed spending over 10 years won't be passed on to taxpayers.

Do you know how the federal governments gets money? Do you think it's from bake sales?

Why do you demand more federal control over the states? Why do you hate America?

Why are you so stooopid?

Not expanding Medicaid cost us billions upon billions. Republicans threatened government shut down to deny us all our own federal tax dollars back.

That's not to mention the hidden costs of health care plans and in hospital bills in Virginia as a result. Dumb ass Richmond Republicans playing national politics with the state.

Gerry how about We have all paid taxes into the Fed and the Conservs deny access to the funds that are there.
The folks who would be unable to afford treatment would have their care paid for and this would generate revenue.
Makes their heads hurt.

Actually, he's right, dumbass. Expand Medicaid, feds pay 100% for at least three years, community hospitals don't have to treat people for free...Virginia taxpayers win.

Don't expand Medicaid...community hospitals treating all those not qualifying for Medicaid or Obamacare for free...Virginia taxpayers pay for it.

Dumbass.
