Again, you need some remedial help on how to read a map. The width of the lower Hudson is about 4500-5000 feet around the area that connects NJ to NY. Let's assume that is what you are talking about after your NJ/Manhattan comment.

Do you know how many feet are in a mile? You probably don't as you are too out of shape to walk that far. Well, it is 5280. You are alleging that the two hotels are nearly a mile apart. That is pretty retarded, even for you. The street view pictures clearly show both hotels in the same shot being on adjacent properties.

Below is a map of the properties in discussion. Over in the bottom left hand corner of the map, there is this line with a number above it. That's called a map scale. See that little distance between the two black vertical lines where it says 20 feet? That tells you that no matter where you are on the map, 20 feet will always equal the distance between those vertical lines.

I know this is way over your head, but we'll give it a try anyway. Look at the northeast corner of the Budget Inn structure. See it? Now, get a piece of paper and put the bottom left corner of it in the middle of the north east corner of the Budget Inn. Take a pen and draw a little dash at the point where it intersects the Quarry Inn. Take another piece of paper and draw a little dash at a point from the corner of the paper that represents the 20 ft. scale mentioned above.

Take that scale piece and move it along the distance of the length between the two Inns. You should get about 3 full ones and about 3/4 of another. That equals about 75 feet.

Go ahead. Ask someone smarter than you if that is correct. They will tell you it is.

No, my eyes are actually fine. There are 4 lanes, 2 gutters, and a 4-foot center divider. Width of 29 at that pint is about 55 feet. No way your 75-foot claim could be correct given that, so I stopped in on my way home this evening.

Not only would your claim of a 75-foot driving distance be off by a factor of 4-5, but attempting to follow such a direct route would require one to drive over the edge of a cliff. Not a small cliff. A significant cliff. One caused by the presence there of Tripp Run. That has water in it.

The only actual way to drive from the Budget Inn to the Quarry Inn is to go back down the access road, turn right Onto 29, drive past a group of unrelated buildings, then turn right into the Quarry Inn parking lot. Conservatively, it's at least 600 feet all in all. All your claims are bullshit.

First, it is called Tripps Run. Second, Tripps Run does not bisect either property in question. Nor does it separate the two. Rather, it runs through the Sisler Stone property which is one parcel down from the two properties in question. The two properties of the hotel are adjoining. Do you not agree with that?

That's not an access road, it is called a parking lot. Ever hear of one of those. They are usually pretty easy spot as they have white lines indicating the parking spaces. You can clearly see the lines in the street view and the satellite photos.

An access road is something you find in many areas along Rt. 50. There is one for the West Falls Shopping Center a bit down the road from this location, but there is no access road at the spot in question.

If you were familiar with the area, you'd probably recall that up until a few years ago, much of that rather large parking lot was the site of the Budget Inn swimming pool. A few years ago, they tore it up, filled it in and paved over it. That is why you have a rather large parking lot for a hotel that would never attract enough customers to fill that lot.

A block in New York City is 264 feet. In the Midwest, a standard of 330 feet is common. By either measure, the Budget Inn is a block or more away from the road, and the as-the-crow-flies distance between the entrances to the two motels would be approaching two blocks. Even though such rough estimates are more than enough to make a fool of you, perhaps I'll stop off again on Friday to obtain more precise data. Might be a good chance to snap some sunset pix of the scenic cliff as well. You might want to have some prefab lies ready, just in case.

It is an access road. It exists only to provide automobile access from Route-29. It allows cars to drive past the buildings that have actual frontage on Route-29, then make the multi-story ascent up to the top of the cliff, and finally proceed across a broad plateau to the point where the Budget Inn Office is located. Police are reminding area residents to drive safely around railroad tracks after a string of recent crashes involving trains and vehicles. On Oct. 23, a train struck a landscaping trailer on U.S. 15 in Haymarket. No one was injured and the train did not derail, police said, but traffic was snarled for several hours.
The next day, Oct. 24, a train struck the rear of a vehicle at the railroad crossing on U.S. 15. There were no injuries in that crash.

This week, on Oct. 28, a vehicle attempting to cross the railroad tracks on Wellington Road in Manassas was struck by a train and had minor damage, Manassas police said. No one was injured.

Between 2011 and 2013, trains struck vehicles five times on U.S. 29 at the tracks near Linton Hall Road in Gainesville. No one was seriously injured in any of the wrecks, which all happened at rush hour and created hours of traffic backups.
Prince William police offered the following tips for drivers:

• Trains and vehicles don’t mix. Never race a train to the crossing because even if you “tie,” you lose.
• The train you see is closer and faster-moving than you think. If you see a train approaching, wait for it to go by before you proceed across the tracks.
• Trains cannot stop quickly. Even if the locomotive engineer sees you, a freight train moving at 55 mph can take a mile or more to stop once the emergency brakes are applied.
• Never drive around lowered gates. It’s both illegal and deadly. If you suspect a crossing signal is malfunctioning call the 800 number posted on or near the crossing signal, or call the police non-emergency number, 703-792-6500.
• Do not get trapped on the tracks. Proceed through a grade crossing only if you are sure you can completely clear the tracks without stopping.
• Get out of your vehicle immediately if it is stopped or stalls on a track with a train coming. Move quickly away from the tracks in the direction from which the train is coming. If you run in the same direction the train is traveling you could be injured by flying debris when the train hits your vehicle.
• Watch for a second train at a multiple-track crossing. One could travel from either direction.
• Look both ways when you need to cross train tracks. When it is safe to cross, do so quickly without stopping. It isn’t safe to stop closer than 15 feet from a rail.
• Always expect a train. Freight trains do not follow set schedules.

I don't see evidence of it in the pic. Also, according to the pic, what is the shortest distance between the two buildings? Use the scale in the pic.

LOL! Not hardly. We are regulars there as well. In case you ever make it, the house special at Fishbone Willy's is quite good, but the real deal is Café Coconut Cove off A1A in Melbourne Beach. Being German, we stopped into Heidelberg on an earlier trip when we stayed in Cocoa Beach. We haven't been back and don't ever expect to be. The ballpark and Coconut Cove are both certainties however. And the Nats will of course be in Viera over at least the short-term and Florida for the long-term. For myself, I'd prefer that they stay on the east coast because the ocean beaches kick the crap out of the gulf beaches. But we'll do whatever is necessary.
