The new Fairfax County speed initiative continued on Wednesday, October 8, with a community kick off at Braddock Hall. Braddock Road Supervisor, John C. Cook, police commanders from the Traffic Unit and the West Springfield Police District demonstrated new, electronic speed detection devices for dozens of homeowner association leaders and answered questions about the program.

Neighborhood yard signs, with the campaign’s tag line “Slow Down. You Live Here. We Live Here” were also distributed. Motorists and residents should expect to see the yellow signs popping up in yards and neighborhoods across the County.

If I see any of these bullshit signs in a yard while im driving, I will personally pull over and take the sign and destroy it.



Speeding is a non-issue. The county enforces artificially low limits to generate reveune, as if they don't take enough out of our paychecks as it is. The police could actually be doing their jobs and take the criminals off the street, from the people vandalizing buildings to the illegal aliens that are gang members throughout the county.

Yes, according to the survey I'm wrong. But I'm not at all interested in what a limited participant survey says.

The points I made are still completely correct. The county is just interested in generating funds thru harrasing motorists.


In neighborhood roads I typically do 35 MPH, 10 over what the posted speed is. Most roads safely allow you to do speeds even faster than that but I err on the side of caution, just becuase some extremely irresponsible parent could have allowed thier child into the street by not watching him. The roads were designed for travel, not for playing in them. If, however, the road in its self is challenging, for example sharp turns or twists, than I may go lower than 25. What I am saying is I will pick my own speed limit which is safe for the road; in residential it will be low and if I'm on the highway I will go fast in the left lane.

They DO NOT take enough out of your paycheck. Meager as your wages might be, the simple fact is that taxes are TOO LOW at the present time. We need enhanced revenue to support the schools and other amenities that make Fairfax life attractive to us and to others. PAY UP OR PACK UP, SUCKER!

Most people who complain about speeders in their neighborhood are often speeders themselves. But guys, it's totally okay because they've got a good reason for it. Those other drivers are just being reckless.

People are drunk on Rolling rd between 7am and 2pm. Damn I'd be moving out of that area quickly!
