There was a story a while back about a kid using one of those in his neighbor hood to slow people down. Feel good story of the year.

I had a similary sports radar a few months ago. Used it to check the
speed at a baseball game. The manual says it uses Ka band, which is
the same as some police radars.

When I tried it on cars, I was really surprised that so many cars in
Virgiina had radar detectors. Almost 1 in 10. (this was in the
Tysons corner - Reston area) The break lights came on as soon as
I triggered the sports radar.

The Bushnell Speedster II does show up on radar detectors as a weak K. I have one have tested it. Range is limited (but will give you break lights at 15 yards ;-), as it is powered by just two C batteries. It is a surprisingly accurate, real K band gun and can even be checked with a K band tuning fork (check eBay for tuning forks).

Higher-end radar detectors pick it up better.

VA police, including Fairfax County use LADAR. So this would be useless in screwing with their "radar"

So buy one and amuse your friends.
