Court throws out Virginia's gerrymandered districts as unconstitutional, maps must be redrawn

Must be redrawn and approved by a sitting Democratic Governor this time. Does this mean I should change my name since there won't be any Republican gerrymandering in this state to protest anymore?

Can they redraw the districts in time for November? They should cut off the goober redneck parts of Prince William county that make their way up through Loudoun and Great Falls.

That district is a holdover. Needs to be absorbed into nearby districts. Democrat Bobby Scott is an Obama asslicking turd anyhow.

District 3 was drawn to ensure there would always be at least one black Democrat Congressman from Virginia.

The court found that the intent went too far in that while it did guaranty Bobby Scott's seat would remain black Democrat, the numbers implied that there could be a second black majority district.

The challenge for Democrats is that this second mostly black district will likely force a white Democrat out of office. It is not known who they will choose to go.

You are an idiot who doesnt know how gerrymandering works. They siphoned off the second district that would go likely democrat by dispersing it into a bunch of republican districts surrounding it that could absorb it. The lost seat will be from the GOP side, not another democrat you dumb tard.

"The district's current configuration dates to 1993, when the Justice Department ordered Virginia to create a majority-minority district. At that time, portions of the old 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th districts were combined to create a new 3rd District. Some minor changes were made as a result of a 1997 federal court decision that the old 3rd was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander, but its boundaries have been largely unchanged since 1993."

Check your facts please. This district is nothing more than a racially motivated gerrymander.

Yes, and you'll need another to continue flooding the Richmond Times Dispatch with comments too.

Speaking of gerrymandering, my congressional district in Maryland runs from Potomac all the way up to Western Maryland (Cumberland).

they are probably being sued and re-districting to cause delays

there are many kinds of "authoritive disctricts" not one, according to your masters in gov

and some are controlled by gov workers from DC ... making one wonder if one beleives a gov worker when they say ...

"oh your in the wrong district you have to go elsewhere to get what's yours"

it's fraud, dummy, fraud

That was gerrymanderer to get rid of Bartlett.

Yeah, Maryland's even worse the Virginia on the gerrymandered districts. Most notably the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th districts. All done to keep Democrats in the majority. If done more geographic at least 3 maybe 4 of those fixed for democrats would be Republican.
