DC Sports Team Fail Thread

The Nats are about the Fail just like the Skins (yes I am a racists) and Caps (never trust the Russian Captain). Is this God's way of punishing this town for its narcissistic, self absorbed, tit sucking attitude thanks to the Federal Gooberment?

Agree with OP - this town is full of asswipes who are fair weathered and love to jump on the bandwagon. Nice to see them get their hopes up and watch them fall. The Giants will sweep the Nats, the Redskins will be vying for the top draft pick and the Caps will lose in the first round of the playoffs

You'll be laid off from your job and have to rely on food stamps. Your car will break down by the side of the road, and by the time you scrape together the money to fix it, it will have been towed away and sold at auction.

I can see things in such detail because my Crystal Ball is better than yours.

I don't need any of my occult powers to recognize your post as typical internet bullshit. Otherwise mark my words, dark days lie ahead for you. Much darker than for any DC sports team.

Yes most Nats fans are self absorbed holier than thou faggots. All you had to do was watch the crowd shots last night. Most everyone was either fiddling with their iPhone or taking selfies or daydreaming. They dont know how to be fans, just know how to be douches.

I counted at least 3 idiots in the seats wearing elitist college/high school sweatshirts last night. Nats garb for them? Nah they are all about being cool! Some I recall seeing were "Dartmouth" (Landon boy who just came back from his club lax game), North Carolina (Oakton girl who thinks she is cool wearing her sister's sweatshirt) and Episcopal (another whore from Alexandria that only fucks college boys).

Am I wrong with this assesment?

Dude, you were wrong to wake up and get out of bed this morning. High school and college students often dress in the "gear" of their schools. Just because you are so sensitive about never having finished high school or taken notes in a college lecture hall doesn't make the habits of those who did and do elitist. Your massive inferiority complex may be perfectly well justified, but it is no one's problem but your own.

Typical douchey elitist rich kid response. First personalize it, then make personal attacks without admitting or refuting the premise. No wonder this town reminds me of Babel and only a matter of time before the walls come tumbling down. The sports teams are helping you douche!

The "over" has to do with how many total points are scored. It has nothing to do with "covering the spread". You must be a pretty easy mark.

There are still three more games. The Giants have only won two. They need to win three to go to the playoffs.

The Nationals have always been a come from behind type team. The NATs also play better against tough teams on the road.

NATs win this one in game five in DC Thursday night.

The theme of today is lost opportunities. The Nats will lose to the Giants (starting at 5pm eastern) while the Skins will be destroyed by the Hawks. DC won't care as much because the latest society pictures of this weekend will come out on Guest of Guest or Revamp.

Giants scored 9 runs in 44 innings against the Nats.

Let's face it. These were two very good teams going head to head. Pitching was dominant. It was tough to get people on base and even tougher to drive them in. But someone eventually wins every game. Neither team could have bragged about a victory here.

> Didnt someone say the Nat's bats would take them

If they did, they would not have been very bright. The Nats are built around pitching, defense, and athleticism. The hitting is hopefully enough, but it's not going to be enough to carry the club for very long, even in the regular season.

Have you forgotten "World Series or Bust"? Williams was very different from Johnson. In over his head at first, but he listened to what he was getting back from his players and coaches and soon enough mended his ways. The Nats were league leaders in games lost to the DL in the first half, but Williams kept the club on a steady course, and when health returned, a path to a title was still open to them. Really some very nice work after a slow start. He will be at or near the top in Manager of the Year voting. You apparently missed the whole show.

You're also a complete idiot. Going to the closer was the only logical thing to do at that point. It had been the only logical thing to do in the 9th inning of the season finale as well, but the no-hitter dictated that logic be ignored. Zimmermann was done. He was running on fumes. Talk about a bad call all you want, but at 2-1, he couldn't throw a strike to Joe Panik, a much worse hitter than Buster Posey. "One base runner" is the leash that a tiring starter gets in trying to pitch the ninth in a close game. Everybody knows that. At least, I though everybody did.

Prior should have been hooked after seven in the Bartman game as well. See what foolishly leaving a spent starter out there got you? Live and learn, or you'll live life being permanently stupid.

Matt Williams didn't adjust during the playoffs and now the fans are disappointed once again.

Defense? The "nats"? WTF? Wrote:

All of them. Zimmerman, Desmond, and LaRoche all have Gold Gloves, and more may be added to the collection this year. Rendon is Gold Glove caliber, but hasn't played a single position long enough to move up the charts. Cabrera struggled at SS in Cleveland, but his work here at 2B was much better. Espinosa of course is all-universe in the field, but doesn't hit enough to play regularly.

Maybe you should actually know something about the Nats before you open your mouth and prove so swiftly that in fact you don't.

Adjust? What does that even mean? Do people think you are supposed to do smart things in the regular season and then switch over to stupid things in the playoffs? You people need to go back to your X-Boxes or whatever.

So how's it going with that Baltimore bandwagon tonight? I guess Buck Showalter just didn't adjust enough? Or maybe Baltimore is cursed? Yeah, that must be it. Just you wait. I bet their hockey and basketball teams do worse than even the Caps and Wizards.

You mean like how they -- along with their fans -- are losers?

You're over-generalizing from the view in your mirror. For the second time in three years, the Nats had more wins that 14 other teams in the NL. There are 15 teams total. Nats attendance was just under 2.6 million. That's about four times the population of DC. Kind of a lot of people for them all to be losers.

It looks like the Redskins may be cursed until they change the name, and the Orioles may be cursed until they stop doing that sissy Braves-like chant. Act like grown-ups maybe, or we'll ban you from the Water Taxi.

Doesn't know who plays infield for the Nats, rants on like the typical DC dumbfuq.

And yes, playoff BB is quite a bit different than the regular season.

God, are you the stupidest butthurt here or what?

LOL, leave it to a DC-area sports fan to crow about regular season performance.

I'm a baseball fan who happens to live here now. You are a shallow waste of time, who at best manages just one of those two. You would otherwise understand that the baseball playoffs are exhibitions games. They are a media-driven circus sideshow that entertains, but does not inform.

Espinosa is all hype. His performance is perfectly described by another here:

Baseball fans are either geeks who never could never play sports or short Jewish kids who used to get pummeled by kids like me. Besides, loser's have flocked to DC for years, that is why this country is screwed up

Your "little friend" fared as poorly in that other thread as you are in this one. Quite a coincidence. Meanwhile, Espinosa's career Offensive Value is -25.5. His career Defensive Value is +30.6. As much of a bad-hitter standout as he has been over his career, he has been an even stronger standout as a good fielder. You should watch the game more.

Translation: The Nats suck ass in the playoffs, so I choose to focus on the (meaningless) regular season.

Name one factual error in that post. Also, for such a defensive wizard, why did his name appear near the top of the list of 2nd basemen committing errors in 2011?

It's all crap. Both posts are just more of your tin-=foil hat divination of a personal and quite uninformed unappreciation of Espinosa's defensive skills. All actually based of course on his legendary hitting woes. Gp play in traffic.

You go all SABR, then run away from DVal, and now you want to use "near the top" in ERRORS by a 2B in 2011 as your marker for defensive prowess? That's just pathetic. Come back in twenty years once you've learned something about the game. Here's a head start: errors are barely and only weakly related to defensive skill. So that's one down, 19 years and 364 days to go.

Update: Your high horse is about two inches tall. The only rational statement in that other thread is that on a scale of 1-10, Espinosa's defense is an 11. And of course, you didn't make it. The rest is simple babble from a baseball goober. "I am done with Espinosa." Ooooh, impressive!!! Imagine YOU being DONE with something. Really meaningful.

So, this is not a true statement when it was made in June? "His DWAR is .1 which puts him near the bottom of all 2nd basemen. He is middle of the road as far as fielding percentage and has committed 4 errors so far this year."

Yeah, thanks for playing.

The problem with the post and with your entire line of thinking is that it's kindergarten ignorant. The distributions of xAR measures are all highly concentrated around the mean. There is no statistically significant difference between the values for the large majority of players. Trying to use them as a ranking mechanism for part-time players is simply dumb. The best way to preserve your FPCT and cut down on errors is of course to make the routine plays only. As an idiot would know, that's not good defense. If you'd like to talk about things such as soft-hands, quickness, range-to-the-left, range-to-the-right, range-going-back, range-into-foul-territory, arm strength and accuracy, release-time, time-of-turn on the double-play, ability to finish a DP over a take-out slide, and so on, be my guest. But you won't go there. You lose as soon as you do, as Espinosa is ranked with the best in the game in such areas. At least so far, Espinosa can't hit. But if he could, he'd be HOF material.

At this point, I'd say many of the same things about Darwin Barney, by the way. Are you "through" with Darwin Barney as well by any chance? Do you even know who he is?

> Yeah, thanks for playing.

I wasn't playing. I was being serious. You babble on, but are completely clueless on the matter.
