What are the chances the Nats blow it?

So they have the entire region of baseball fan idiots frothing at the mouth about how great this team is and its all the way to the World Series or bust!

Now we know the history of the sports teams in this area and the propensity they have for falling flat on their faces when crunch time comes.

Redskins- 20 years of futility and failure
Wizards- Im not even sure how long its been.....25 years of futility and failure?
Caps- entire existance of futility and failure

Nats- ?

They're a DC team: it's a lock.

After the Strasburg shutdown they're cursed. And in any case they're riding in on an easy schedule, weak division, but beaten by better teams.

Ten teams made it to the post-season. Nine of them will bow out before this is all over. Arithmetic is a bitch, dumbfucks.

Depends if the Pirates or Giants win on Wednesday night.

If they play the Pirates I'd say they sail thru the playoffs to a Orioles NAtionals World Series.

If the Giants win it could be problems.

The Pirates are no slouches. The Giants are not the team they were early in the year. The Nats are a strong team that puts a lot of talent on the field. They could either win or lose against either opponent. The regular season determines who the best teams are over the long haul of 162 games. The playoffs are a different season entirely. They determine things like who's hot, who's healthy, and who's just plain lucky. It makes some sense to try to build a team that can get to October, but all that cleverness and craftsmanship counts for next to nothing once the playoffs start.

LOL, you forgot about the Nats two years ago. One strike away from advancing, and they blew it. At home. You should have seen the looks on the faces of the fans. :-)

That's the great thing about DC-area fans though -- neverending optimism despite constant failure. You gotta love it.
