How did the Board of Supervisors sneak 1,023 illegal children into Fairfax County this summer?

It was a massive undertaking.

Plane transport from the southwest.
Buses to meet them at Dulles and BWI.
Food services.
Medical screenings.
Delivery to their newly designated "relatives."
School registration.

How was this all done in secret?

They were directed to enroll them even if they lack proper medical screening and vaccinations.

Remember this is a very LIBERAL county with a lot of dumb tax payers! What scares me is the lack of medical screenings, look at all the medical issues that are in the news now.

They walked the F right in. Everyone is so busy working, no one has a clue what is going in their own neighborhoods, yet they know stupid shit like how much bigger Kim K's a$$ has gotten.

It's all about breaking down Americans into poverty and keeping the 1% elite rich.

The Democrats are trying to ensure that what the last poster says is true.

Remember, any good Liberal/Progressive/Socialist country has 1% rich, and 99% coal miners. Look at Mao's China. Look at Uncle Joe's Soviet Union. Look at Fidel Castro and Cuba. Look at Venezuela and Chavez.

Most Democrats in the U.S. don't want this to happen, but they are so g--damned ignorant about everything from economics to foreign policy that they don't know better. They've been taught to be a Democrat first, a world citizen next, and then nothing else. Most Democrats I know will vote for a Democrat on the ballot named I-Hate-America Jones, as long as I-Hate-America has a (D) next to it.

Look, if you love America, and want to improve things, you Democrats, leave rusty and decrepit party. I'm not saying to become a Republican, because they are a bunch of boobs, too. Just vote for the person who's best for the U.S., or Virginia. Unfortunately, Obama, McAuliffe, Warner, Warner, Pelosi, Reid, Waters, Frank, etc., are just plain horrible for the U.S.

So, at least for this fall, if you love America, vote Republican.

They didn't walk in. They are child refuges from what is by any measure a war zone. And we're giving them humanitarian aid and comfort. Because it's the right thing to do. And we've got plenty.

Throwing this out to you narcissist trolls: specifically how did you earn your way into Fairfax Co? I'm guessing it's 90% due to luck of the draw. Born white, born middle class or higher, placed onto the conveyer belt to college, employment and a tidy suburban house. Wow - how inspiring! I can't wait to read your biographies! I've got a title you can borrow: "Born on Third Base, Thinks He Hit a Homerun".

But seriously, you really are a bunch of entitled, whiney pussy boys.

We PAID for the stadium so we are entitled to that easy "triple". Those illegals should be mowing the grass OUTSIDE the stadium for a few generations before being permitted to play the "game".

I came on a student visa, wanting to learn the English language and American culture. Now that I own property in Fairfax, and pay taxes, I don't want to pay more RE taxes to fund these illegals and see my property value decline. Deport them all. Send troops and supplies to their countries if we must help them out.

@Columbia:

Some of these kids who were brought in may well do exactly what you said you did - assimilate. They haven't had a chance to prove that yet. So it's a little early to send them back, eh?

"Send troops and supplies to their countries if we must help them out."

You really think sending troops to foreign countries is cheaper? Remember, you have an obligation to support those troops and their families for the next 60 years.

Also, sounds like you're volunteering for military duty?

Actually, you are a classic "last one in, close the gate".

It's unlikely considering they are coming from the shittiest parts of central America. Take a look at Falls Church High or Annandale, see how well the immigrants are assimilating.

"“Some even refuse to learn English.”

Of the roughly 37,000 border children released to parents or other sponsors since January, the Washington area has absorbed one of the largest contingents in the nation. Fairfax County has received 1,023, "

Considering the cost these kids, maybe so. The troops will be supported for the next 60 years regardless. The cost would also be more spread out rather than directly affecting my property values and property taxes.

Uhh no, if they want to come here on a visa LEGALY, they are more than welcome! Now if illegal immigrants who come here work minimum wage jobs, breed like rabbits, refuse to speak English, pack 20 people in one house, and so on. Those yes, close the gates and deport them.

They are unwanted exports from failed socialist states. Broken societies and ruined economies ruled by leftist hacks don't qualify as "war zones".

I don't know how they got away with it, but unless we vote them off the island....we are asking for it. Seriously, there is a lot of underhanded deals, just like the Lorton Work House Arts center, which taxpayers will ultimately have to pay for...it is several million in debt. Vote the entire board off!

New 1,000 plus illegals

The FCPS office has not flagged who is new to Virginia Public Schools, you can find that out by just asking your students. Most of our new to VPS kids have come from out of the country and have limited English and won’t be tested anyway.

Limited or no English.

Limited or no immunizations.....

Far exceeding behavior problems, Extreme anger. Violent motor tics

I'd all of those who think they were "snuck' in to watch the local news as it was broadcast and I heard it - yes, I do have a full time + job but I make time to find out what is happening locally, nationally and internationally.

Yes 14 million is a low estimate to pay for Obama's surge. Do any of the usual liberal cocksuckers who post here even pay taxes? Do you stupid fucks realize how much Obama's surge is going to cost you in paying for Central America's poor?
No probably not...your mother pays taxes not you as you still sleep in your Power Ranger's bunk bed...

No, it wasn't beyond general stories and secondary sources for estimates of numbers. They still will not release even aggregated data for where they were placed citing privacy concerns. From all of your news watching you might recall Obama's recent comment along those lines re not having to look over their shoulders.

It is not my job to teach them English. I won't be fired when they fail the SOLs. As long as they sit quietly in their chairs it does not matter, they move on in June. Four more years of this and I retire.

A complicit 'news media' that is a de facto organ of the central government. That's how.

Easy. Done using volunteer church orgs and by the government paying volunteers taking the kids in $700.00 a month child care costs, plus lush tax credits. Gives the illegals already here a nice steady income--the more kids they take, the more fed money they can get free.

If the objection was to provide humanitarian aide and comfort to refuges, why wasn’t just that done? Why instead, fast track them for permanent residency.

The parents of certain schools where the "new students" are enrolling need to ban together and go to Gatehouse and start complaining. There is NO more room for tax payer children to get a quality education. Until parents take action and voice their concern where it can be heard others than here nothing will be done. Also all the US taxpayers need to complain what is happening to their country. Five years from now and when the 50+ are gone we have left this country in a bed shape. Not the country our parents left us. The manat the top created this problem. We need someone now to fix it.

if denizens are being hired at reasonable wages maybe

but in obama economy that's not the case. what we have is a unionized gov worker economy in NVA/DC/MD area - producing nothing but authority demands - using min wage workers and imports to make their paychecks go farther - taking a crap on the citizens they swore to serve

got to hell. ok for you maybe. then YOU pay the price.

http://fcnp.com/2014/07/03/a-penny-for-your-thoughts-news-of-greater-falls-church-156/

By Penny Gross

Happy 4th of July! I hope all the parades, picnics, and fireworks will be terrific! There are so many places in the world today where the “rockets’ red glare and bombs bursting in air” actually are military armaments, not carefully planned colorful displays we enjoy at the Mall or local park. I am thankful every day that we live in such a great, and peaceful, nation. No wonder people want to come here.

And there’s the rub. Recent media reports have focused on thousands of children fleeing to the United States from Central and South America, unaccompanied by their parents or other responsible adults. The federal government, according to the reports, is housing the children in old federal facilities in Arizona, California, and Texas, while efforts to identify the children and what to do about them continue. The numbers apparently have overwhelmed the ability of the Border Patrol and other federal agencies to handle the situation. Last week, the small town of Lawrenceville, Virginia, near the North Carolina border, was in the news when it learned of a federal plan to house 500 children at St. Paul’s College, a historic black college that is closing. The town of about 1400 residents apparently had not been consulted ahead of time, and town leaders were concerned about how its existing infrastructure – police, fire protection, schools – could handle an increase of so many children at once. No one had time to plan.

And there’s another rub. Local governments provide local services; the feds don’t. Local governments plan for gradual growth in services needed by residents and businesses, based on trends tracked across time. While extra services, such as those generated by weather-related incidents, usually can be accommodated on an emergency basis for a short time, the situation is much different for long-term needs. Long-term planning is critical, and that is why, at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting, I asked County Executive Ed Long to examine the issues and provide the Board with recommendations about steps that may be needed to handle an unexpected influx of unaccompanied children, if such an event should occur, and report back at our July 29 Board meeting.

Fairfax County has a long history of welcoming newcomers. In the mid-1970s, Vietnamese refugees, many with professional degrees, came to Fairfax after the fall of Saigon. In the early 1980s, Afghani refugees, including educators and engineers, came after the Russians invaded their homeland. They have opened businesses, raised families, and became an integral part of the diverse tapestry of our community. In 2005, after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated the Gulf Coast, Fairfax County welcomed a few hundred families who were forced out of their homes. Volunteers and non-profit agencies stepped forward, as did the school system, to provide temporary assistance for about a year, until the families could return home.
