Madison High NO 0's Policy

NO ZERO
POLICY
The zero is no longer supported on 100
point scale. A zero on a 100 point scale
may distort a student’s grade and does not
accurately reflect student achievement. A
student may receive a:
¨ 53 out of 100 on 100 point scale -OR-
¨ 0 on a 0-4 point grading sca

Is this the same as the new Mount Vernon HS "lowest grade recorded is a 53%" policy? (Newer thread.) Is this a county-wide policy? Do parents want this?

They started this last year. It's still an F but one bad grade or missed assignment does ruin your grade for the quarter. Some teachers don't adjust their grades on progress reports until the end of the quarter. It helps scare my kids enough that they try to make up work and retake tests.

This is actually a good thing because the kid still gets an F but doesn't fuck the kid over by giving him a zero out of 100. I remember getting that shit as a kid and was always screwed to bring my grade back up for something so fucking stupid! Those hurt as a kid hahaha! Glad to see schools coming out of the dark ages in some of that backward thinking.

You can thank helicopter pain in the ass parents for this bullshit. It only hurts the kids as it shows them that there aren't really any consequences for fucking up. It's a shame.

Well in one hand we have Madison High school where they have over 90% passing in all sol test. In the other hand we have Mount Vernon where we have under 50% passing in the sol scores. I think we should being back the 0 but if a students passes an SOL Test and his failing the class, he should automatic pass the class no if, ands, or buts.
