What happened to our County (Country)?

Free Speech, unless someone (whoever 'someone' is) deems it bullying, untrue, libelous, politically incorrect etc.

Patriot Act: As presently defined the Act:
· Permits clandestine searches of the homes of American citizens suspected of no crimes;
· Authorizes searches of the private records of libraries, businesses, physicians, hospitals, banks, schools and other organizations without probable cause;
· Creates a vague new crime known as "domestic terrorism," applicable even to lawful protests;
· Authorizes arbitrary surveillance of religious services and political forums;
· Permits detention of American citizens without benefit of due process or counsel
REALLY?!?!?!?!?!?!?

US Corporations are ALLOWED to move overseas to avoid US taxes. CHANGE THIS LOOPHOLE. Until then, double tax them for the privilege to do business in this County (Country).

Crooked politicians being re-elected. Set term limits once and for all. The President has one-but the cronies who have been in office for DECADES don't??? They need to go...NOW

All translations in Spanish on all things American need to go! All signs in Asian need to be in English. This is America, we speak and read ENGLISH!!! Our forefathers learned to assimilate and so do you. We tolerate non-English speakers and actually cater to their unwillingness to assimilate. (Check out the jobs online...bi-lingual is now a requirement!!!)

Cops/citizens getting away with murder/shooting/choking/tasering unarmed/innocent people for no reason (OH Right-they 'felt threatened'...Costco worker, Optometrist John Geer, homeless man, Nick Kaelber etc etc etc). Can't they just take out a kneecap if they are so threatened??? They are not held accountable and need to be!!!

Whew, I'm tired. Time to get to work to get this County (Country) back on track, take back our rights, and enact laws that are for the good of the people.

Thank You!

Is there any law that prevents YOU from moving overseas to avoid taxes?

Then why b**ch about allowing corporations to do so? Case closed.

My observation; men and women in northern virginia live in a vacuum. Most live to sing the praises of the constitution but don't realize the police violate civil and constitutional rights every day. They operate under the justification that "that criminal must have done something to deserve that" or worse they rely on nbc and local news agencies.

Mostly the men and women of nova don't do shit about shit. They sit around unwilling to speak out against the police and broken system and instead post on forums like this. Forums are no place to protest. This is not taking action, it's typing to a constitutionally retarded and deaf audience. This is how the men and women of ferguson are dealing with it;

A handful of Ferguson protesters are turning to the courts to hold law enforcement accountable for their actions, so they have filed a $41.5 million lawsuit against Ferguson and St. Louis County police officers.

The suit names both police chiefs as well as a single officer (Justin Cosma, of journalist-arresting fame) while naming the rest of the cops included as John Does. The police involved are accused of infringing the plaintiffs' civil rights by subjecting them to "unnecessary and unwarranted force, arrests that were not based upon probable cause, and other violations of their constitutional rights."

The lowlights: The suit alleges many incidents of police brutality, racial discrimination and generally appalling behavior. Plaintiff Tracey White allegedly got the following treatment when she took her son to McDonald's after attending a church-sponsored "Peace and Love rally":

Several Defendant John Doe police officers and Defendant Cosma, in what appeared to be army uniforms, carrying rifles and sticks and wearing helmets, approached the door and ordered Plaintiff White to "get out." Plaintiff White was terrified and tried to tell Defendant John Doe police officers and Defendant Cosma that her son was in the restroom, and that she was there waiting for her husband to pick them up.

After her son exited the restroom, Plaintiff White observed him being accosted by Defendant John Doe police officers and Defendant Cosma. When she expressed her concern, she was told to "shut up." When Plaintiff White continued to express her concerns about the way her son was being mistreated, she was advised that she was being arrested because she would not "shut up." Plaintiff White was then thrown to the ground and handcuffed. During the process of being arrested, Plaintiff White realized that she had her son's iPad in her hand and summoned him over to retrieve the item. When he did, Defendant John Doe police officers and Defendant Cosma, placed the minor under arrest as well, for no reason at all.
White and her son were held for more than five hours, according to the lawsuit. Another plaintiff, Dewayne A. Matthews Jr., alleges he was shot with rubber bullets and assaulted on his way to visit his mother, who lives near the protest zone:

Plaintiff Matthews was confronted by approximately eight Defendant John Doe police officers in military type uniforms who had their weapons trained upon him. Plaintiff immediately put his hands in the air whereupon he was shot multiple times with rubber bullets.

At that point, Plaintiff Matthews fell into a creek or sewer. Defendant John Doe officers pounced on him, slammed his face into the concrete, and pushed his head underwater to the point that he felt he was going to be drowned. Afterward, Defendant John Doe police officers continued to assault him and spray him with O.C. spray.

Damon Coleman and Theophilus Green, also plaintiffs in the lawsuit, allege they were tear gassed and shot with rubber bullets at a protest near the Quick Trip convenience store. "While arresting Plaintiffs Coleman and Green," the lawsuit says, "Defendant John Doe police officers from the St. Louis County Police Department hurled racial epithets at them, while punching and kicking them the entire time."

Moving forward: This lawsuit isn't the only Ferguson response being sent to court. The most notable case is that of Darren Wilson, the officer who shot Brown. A grand jury will decide whether or not to bring charges.

The grand jury investigation could take until October. St. Louis County Attorney Robert McCulloch, who is prosecuting the case, has drawn criticism already for his prior handling of a police shooting case in which no charges were brought and his promise that "absolutely everything will be presented to the grand jury. Every scrap of paper that we have. Every photograph that was taken."

As Vox explains, that's not usually the way a prosecutor approaches a grand jury investigation. McCulloch could be trying to delay the case by taking that route, or even hoping the grand jury decides not to charge Wilson. Either way, between this case and the lawsuit against police, we have heard far from the last from Ferguson.

You're damned right there is. It's called the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) which compels banks outside the United States to gather financial information of those deemed to be U.S. citizens for tax reasons and turn it over to the IRS.

Even if the U S citizen has not set foot in or earned money in the U S in decades!

This fucked up law has unleashed a torrent of people renouncing their U S citizenship....3000 last year alone. It's expensive and time-consuming to renounce your U S citizenship but this law leaves many people no choice.

It's horrible that americans and American companies are allowed to leave to avoid taxes.

We need to shut down the airports and erect walls on the coasts. No evil conservatard should be allowed to avoid paying tribute to fund his replacement with pliant Central Americans.

When doing your taxes, don't you take every deduction you possibly can? Of course you do. Nobody wants to pay more taxes than necessary, and of course we know now that corporations are people. These are laws passed by Congress and signed by the President so that the rich people who put them into office can keep getting richer. And so it goes.
