in some places but nothing that follows the whole thing, which end of walney park are you going to? poplar tree and stringfellow both have sidewalks/lots of bikers.

can't really bike on walney rd since it's 2 lane through the woods, lots of trucks

Yes. Follow Rocky Run Trail from the Parkway to Stringfellow. Then you have to go south on Stringfellow, cross over (to the west) and pick up the Big Rocky Run Trail about 100 yards south, which will take you to Walney. Having said that, with all the Stringfellow Road construction I do not know if you could do it anytime soon.

Here you go...

In addition, you can also easily walk/wade underneath the Rt. 28 through the Big Rocky Run culvert (there is a 4 box culvert - if you catch it during a dry spell one or more of the sections may be dry) and walk along informal trails to Braddock Road. Then cross Braddock and follow trails to Route 29. Cross 29 and and you can follow it to the confluence of Big Rocky Run and Cub Run. Both sides near Route 29 do not have formal trails. I've walked from Fairfax County Parkway to Cub Run in less than 3 hours - if you don't mind getting a little wet and dirty it can be done.
