"Buena Vista" is not pronounced in the Spanish manner the first couple of replies suggested. "WhiteDescendantofMrJefferson" has it right: The "ue" in "Buena" is pronounced like a long "u" sound. Picture the "B" followed by the word "you," an "n," and then a schwa and you'll have it: "Byoo-nuh."
There's a joke down there about a bus full of Harvard debate team members headed south who see the sign and start pronouncing it in the Spanish fashion. One of the team members tells them that's wrong and they all start ridiculing him.
The bus stops in town and they go into a fast-food place. One of the guys who says the Spanish pronunciation is correct goes up to the counter and says, "Hey, fella, how do you rednecks pronounce the name of this here place?"
The cashier looks at him and, with a smarmy grin, slowly replies, "HAR-dees."

I moved to Fauquier a while back. I was pulling a permit for a job in Fairfax and the lady asked me the county name for the mailing address for some misc stuff to be sent to me. When I told her Fauquier County she said "you can't speak to me that way" and hung up. Have to be careful with that one. Tough name.

Americans have been changing the pronunciation of spanish place names for over a century, just look at California, there are a lot of Spanish place names with Anglified pronunciations.
