Rose Hill Shopping Center Safeway - anyone know...?

Has the Safeway store in Rose Hill shopping center always been in the exact same spot or did it move down a few stores? In the 70's I seem to remember it being on the far left.... was over there today and it's now off to the right. Am I tripping or did the store relocate? The old Roy Rogers is now a McDonalds and the Arthur Treachers that was in the parking lot was torn down.

Yes, Safeway policy is to move their stores at least ten feet every few years.

The Safeway used to be where the Dollar Tree is now.

Lived here forever is correct.

Does anyone remember the Arthur Treachers that was in the middle of the lot?

Does anyone remember when the area was white?

I still live behind the Rose Hill school bought my grandfathers house. Area has browned up nicely.

What it looked like in the 60's and the ground breaking in 1959. Note the lack of color.

Cool pic! I thought the Safeway used to be a Grants but wasn't sure enough to say. Where the flag is flying further down was the post office for 22310. At the very end was a Drug Fair and it had a lunch counter.

I believe that's Dan Snyder right next to the firetruck. He's telling the other kid that one day he's either going to own the Washington "Redskins" or be a fire "chief".

Thanks 'lived here forever' !!! I didn't think my mind was playing tricks on me. The current dollar store location is where I remember that Safeway used to be.

Check out this picture from 1964. People shopping at a Giant Food in Rockville. white people! no fat slobs on scooters! no cell phones! Those were some good times, as long as we had a fallout shelter...
