How things are sold door-to-door in NOVA in 2014

So, I just bought my first home. My buddies and I were my stuff in when this frumpy-dumpy guy in his early 30's comes to my door and asks if I own the home. When I say yes, he asks me if I'm interested in purchasing a home security system. Initially, I said no thanks...and that I was going to re-activate the one installed by the previous owners.

He looked around, looked at his watch and said, "Well, it's close to lunch time...you guys need to take a break and eat, right? How about I order out for 3 large pizzas and a case of beer? You and your guys can sit and have lunch and you can listen to our pitch, ok?"

I told him that would be fine. He pulls out his phone, makes and call in which all he says is, "Yeah...it's me. Yeah, come on down to {gives my address}. Yup...uh huh...uh huh...{laughs his ass off} Yup! Pizza and beer!"

The guy then hangs up his phone and says, "Ok, you're all set. My colleague will be down shortly with the pizza and beer." and he leaves.

About 25 minutes later, my doorbell rings and standing there is this stunningly beautiful, professionally dressed woman and she's holding the aforementioned pizza and beer. She is just a total and complete, utter SMOKE-SHOW! I invite her in and she sits down and we start eating. She takes 15 minutes to go over their 3 very simple plans. At the end of her pitch I say, "Wow...so, why couldn't the other guy who was here earlier tell me that?"

And she just says, "Oh...I'm what you call "The Closer". The other gentleman who was here earlier is my lead generator. We all have our specific jobs within the company."

I laughed and said, "Hmmm...well you made a nice pitch. Good presentation of features and benefits without talking down to me and making sure I understood everything but tell me something...What makes you so good at being the closer?"

She just grins a stupid grin and laughs and says, "I don't know...I just enjoy my job, I guess..."

I told her thanks and she left a sales packet and her card and left. I promptly threw it in the trash after she left. Their prices were 12% higher. Good pizza and beer though...She was a total smoke-show. It was like something straight out of a movie.

Great way to scope a home out to see how they will rob you later...
