Is it illegal to watch someone get arrested?

Someone is getting arrested a couple blocks around my neighborhood and one of the cops asked me what I was doing. While Flash-lighting me till I left. Why is it Illgeal to watch someone get arrested?

It's not illegal. However...
It's in your interest to be polite an not make them nervous. They know your rights better than you do.
If they tell you to move back you have to move back.
You can film from a public street or private property with the owner's permission.

It is not illegal, and you often don't have to 'move back' when they tell you to (there is a reasonable distance you have to stay) nor do you have to stop filming when they tell you to. HOWEVER, you should expect that the police may intimidate threaten, or even attempt to arrest you. You will essentially have no recourse, even if they are wrong in their stance.
Despite what a previous poster said, most police are not familiar with your rights. There have been multiple cases about this recently.

This isn't exactly true. There have been a growing number of cases where Courts have held officers (read taxpayers) liable for this type of thing. The post 9-11 Security Trumps All days are over. Even so it can become unpleasant and you will have an uphill battle.
