Herndon death house sold for $585K
Posted by: xCpMF ()

Herndon house where family wiped out in 2012 murder-suicide has sold for $585K in July, 2014. Originally listed at $595K, Zillow indicates it's one of the most expensive houses on the block. Do the new owners know?

It looks like the leinholder had it completely gutted and remodeled after Albert Peterson murdered his entire family and killed himself.

Bought for 585K and zillow estimated it to be worth 515K. Hellll No. The family's ghosts and bad juju of the house is definitely not worth a 70K delta. I wonder if the buyers knew what happened.

OP, I think you should type the new owners a letter explaining the home's history and slip it under their door...

I'm sure the strong curry smell from the new owners will drive the ghosts away.

If you are a neighbor, how can you avoid that kind of awkwardness?

But, then again, there are some neighborhoods in Fairfax where people don't know their neighbros.

The deaths of the wife and kids was a real tragedy for those who knew them. Very good souls. RIP.

Yes, these sort of homes are called stigmatized properties in the real estate world. Murders, suicides, previous owners that had AIDS, even homosexual couples previously living in the home have created stigma for properties.

Blessed are the murderous.

Wow surprised it went for market value. I would of bought it at a discount (15%~ off), but no way at market value.

Frying Pan Park is nearby and the smell of horse manure usually fetches a premium around these parts.

If the buyer is an investor, he won't care. It will soon be up on Craiag's list as an available roommate house of maybe for a single family rental if so. It won't be his issue. Always plenty of people looking for house shares around here...

The owner is probably of on of those sick persons that pay to stay at a place like the Lizzy Bourden Bed and Breakfast where Lizzy killed her parents with an axe to collect their life insurance and inheritance.

What the heck is the "Lizzy Borden Bed and Breakfast"? Also, I've never read any nonfiction that stated she murdered her father or stepmother.

Wow. That's pretty tasteless. Wonder if they have a honeymoon suite? This is a great site. I guess at least it gets some money into the local economy.
